Awakened (Cast Novel)
''Awakened'' is the eighth volume of the ''House of Night'' fantasy series written by American authors P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast. The novel was published on January 1, 2011 by St. Martin's Press, an extension of Macmillan Publishers. Zoey has returned from the Otherworld and is spending time on Sgiach, learning of her powers. Back at the House of Night, Stevie Rae fights back to counteract the influence of Neferet and sort out her link to Rephaim. Both will have to learn that to survive they'll have to face their secrets. Plot The Isle of Skye Zoey and Stark reassure their connection by having sex under the wishing tree and become connected. Zoey finds out that she wields the ancient magick of the fey and can bring back old fey that serve her elements, prompting Queen Sgiach to ask her to stay on Skye indefinitely and be her successor. Kristin Cast
Kristin F. Cast (born November 4, 1986) is an American author of young adult books. She is the editor for the ''House of Night'' series for young adults with her mother, P.C. Cast, and the author of ''The Escaped'' series. Life and career Cast graduated from Broken Arrow Senior High School in 2005. Cast is biracial and has Nigerian ancestry. Cast lives in Portland, Oregon In 2007, the ''House of Night'' series began with the publishing of its first book, ''Marked''. It was created by Kristin and her mother, P.C. Cast, with Kristin beginning when she was 19-years-old. Kristin was an editor for the series. The last book of the series was ''Redeemed'', published in 2014. In 2014, Cast signed a five-book deal with Diversion Books for a series called ''The Escaped''. In 2015, she released the first book of the series, ''Amber Smoke''. It Gets Better Project
It Gets Better is an Internet-based 501(c)3 nonprofit with a mission to uplift, empower, and connect lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) youth around the globe. It was founded in the United States by gay activist, author, media pundit, and journalist Dan Savage and his husband Terry Miller on September 21, 2010, in response to the suicides of teenagers who were bullied because they were gay or because their peers suspected that they were gay. Its goal is to prevent suicide by having gay adults convey the message that these teens' lives will improve. Tyler Clementi
Tyler Clementi (December 19, 1991 – September 22, 2010) was an American student at Rutgers University–New Brunswick who jumped to his death from the George Washington Bridge over the Hudson River at the age of 18, on September 22, 2010. On September 19, 2010, Clementi's roommate, Dharun Ravi, used a webcam on his dorm room computer and his hallmate Molly Wei's computer to view, without Clementi's knowledge, Clementi kissing another man. Clementi eventually found out, after Ravi posted about the webcam incident on Twitter. Two days later, Ravi urged friends and Twitter followers to watch via his webcam a second try between Clementi and his friend, though the viewing never occurred. Ravi and Wei were indicted for their roles in the webcam incidents, though they were not charged with a role in the suicide itself.
