''Avanti Popolo'' ( he, אוונטי פופולו) is a 1986 Israeli drama film directed by Rafi Bukai. Israel has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film since 1964. Despite its relatively small film-making industry, ten Israeli films have been nominated for the Foreign Language Oscar, placing it in the Top Ten most nominated countries of all time. However, as of 2022, no Israeli film has ever won the coveted award. Since 1991, the Israeli Ophir Award winner for Best Film is automatically designated the Israeli submission for the Oscar. The Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was created in 1956 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honour non-English-speaking films produced outside the United States. Salim Daw (also spelled Salim Dau, ar, سليم ضو; born 1950) is an Israeli-Arab actor. With appearances in more than 60 works of stage, television and film, he is perhaps best known for portraying Mohamed Al-Fayed on seasons 5 and 6 of Netflix's ''The Crown.''
