Austrian Olympic Committee
The Austrian Olympic Committee (ÖOC) (german: link=no, Österreichisches Olympisches Comité) is the non-profit organization representing Austrian athletes in the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The ÖOC also represents the selection of Austrian cities in their bid for being the site for an Olympic Games. ÖOC is headquartered in Vienna. History The Austrian Olympic Committee was created in 1908 and formally recognized by the IOC in 1912. Werner Delle Karth (Alternate listings: Werner delleKarth, Werner Delle-Karth) is an Austrian bobsledder who competed during the 1970s. He won two medals in the four-man event at the FIBT World Championships with a silver in 1973 and a bronze in 1974. Competing in two Winter Olympics, Delle Karth earned his best finish of sixth in the four-man event at Innsbruck in 1976. He also took the Athlete's Oath at those same games. Following his retirement from competition, Delle Karth embarked on a coaching career before serving as secretary general of the Austrian Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation and as a member of the Fédération Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing's Court of Arbitration. Annemarie Moser-Pröll (born 27 March 1953) is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from Austria. Born in Kleinarl, Salzburg, she was the most successful female alpine ski racer during the 1970s, with six overall titles, including five consecutive. Moser-Pröll celebrated her biggest successes in downhill, giant slalom and combined races. In 1980, her last year as a competitor, she secured her third Olympic medal (and first gold) at Lake Placid and won five World Cup races. Her younger sister Cornelia Pröll is also a former Olympic alpine skier. Career During her career, Moser-Pröll won the overall World Cup title a record six times, including five consecutive (1971–75). She has 62 individual World Cup victories, third behind Lindsey Vonn and Mikaela Shiffrin on the female side. Brigitte Totschnig (later ''Habersatter'', born 30 August 1954) is a retired Austrian alpine skiing, alpine skier. Career She competed at the 1972 and 1976 Winter Olympics and won a silver medal in the downhill in 1976. Totschnig finished seventh in the downhill at the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 1978. Between 1975 and 1977 she had seven victories and 13 podiums at the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, World Cup, 11 of them in downhill; her best overall placement was fourth in the 1976–77 season. She retired after the 1977–1978 season, in which she won national titles in the downhill and combined. In 1978 she built the Aparthotel Olympia in Filzmoos and ran it since then. Totschnig was named Austrian Sports Personality of the Year, Austrian Sportswoman of the Year in 1976 and in 1996 was awarded a silver medal for services to Austria.
