Australian Women In Music Awards
Australian Women in Music Awards (commonly known informally as AWMA) is an annual awards ceremony and conference celebrating the contributions of women in all areas of the Australian music industry. The two-day program includes forums, a show case event and networking. Diversity and inclusion is a focus of the awards. The event was founded in March 2018 by industry veteran Vicki Gordon and come after the research report 'Skipping A Beat' published in 2017 found gender inequality to be rife in the Australian music industry. Artist Katie Noonan said at the launch, "These awards are a powerful signal to our industry, our artists and our audience that female musicians can, should and will take centre stage". Brisbane Powerhouse
Brisbane Powerhouse is an arts and cultural hub located in a former power station in the Brisbane suburb of New Farm, Queensland, Australia. The venue offers an array of performing arts, visual arts, festivals, and free community events. The first stage of the New Farm Powerhouse was built in 1927–28 as part of the growing need for Powerhouses for the Brisbane Trams. The power station began operations in 1928, was decommissioned in 1971. It was renovated and re-opened as a modern entertainment hub in 2000. Origins Positioned on the northern bank of the Brisbane River, Brisbane Powerhouse was developed from a decommissioned power station. 2021 Australian Women In Music Awards
The 2021 Australian Women in Music Awards was the third Australian Women in Music Awards. The event was scheduled to take place on 5 and 6 October 2021 but on 31 August 2021, but delayed to 19 May 2022. 17 award categories will be presented, two more from 2019 with the Inaugural Tina Arena Special Impact Award and Live Production Touring Award being added. Nominations opened on 25 May 2021 and close on 6 July. Joy McKean , (born 14 January 1930), is an Australian country music singer-songwriter and wife and manager of the late Slim Dusty. Known as the "grand lady" of Australian country music, McKean is recognised as one of Australia's leading songwriters and bush balladeers and wrote several of Dusty's most popular songs.
