''The Children's Newspaper'' was a monthly English language newspaper published from 1899–1900 in New South Wales, Australia. It was also known as ''The Children's Newspaper: a monthly journal for young folks'' and ''The Australian Children's Newspaper''. History First published on 30 January 1899, ''The Children's Newspaper'' continued for only one year, its last issue appearing on 28 January 1900. It was issued under the authority of the New South Wales Department of Education and published by W.M. Brooke & Co in Sydney. In the last issue of the paper the editor states: "''The Children's Newspaper'' has completed its trial year, and we have to announce to our numerous young readers that we cannot see our way to start another volume. The C.N. is only a comparatively small production, but small as it is, the tax on our editor's time has been too great, and even editors get wearied when they have too much work to do." Tom Stanley Hepworth
Tom Stanley Hepworth D.Ed. (29 June 1916 – 1 September 1985) was an Australian teacher, author and editor. History Hepworth was born in Brisbane, Queensland to Tom Hepworth and his wife Martha May Hepworth, née Russell (1881–1966), of "The Palms", Park Road, South Brisbane. His father died when Tom was quite young; his mother married again, to William Robert McGregor (died 1948). He began his working life as a teacher at Colamba, near Chinchilla, Queensland. By 1948 he was senior History and Economics master at Brisbane Grammar School and undertook further studies in education at Harvard University, from where he graduated as Doctor of Education. In 1951 he was appointed Education Officer with the Commonwealth Office of Education. ''The Argonauts Club'' was an Australian children's radio program, first broadcast in 1933 on ABC Radio Melbourne. Its format was devised by Nina Murdoch who had run the station's Children's Hour as "Pat".
