Australia Men's National Lacrosse Team
The Australia men's national lacrosse team, nicknamed the ''Sharks'', is governed by the Australian Lacrosse Association. The Sharks most recently competed in the 2018 World Lacrosse Championship, held in Netanya, Israel, where they finished fourth (behind the United States, Canada, and the Iroquois). In previous World Lacrosse Championships, the Australian men's team has earned three Silver medals and seven Bronze. The Australian Under 19 men's national lacrosse team, nicknamed the ''Crocodiles'', most recently finished fourth in the 2016 U19 Men's World Championships in Coquitlam, B.C., Canada. History Lacrosse in Australia has a long and proud history dating back to 1876, with a small but dedicated community of participants and volunteers. In these cities there are organised Saturday field lacrosse competitions for men and women at senior and junior levels, played over the winter months (April until September). 1998 World Lacrosse Championship
The 1998 World Lacrosse Championship was the eighth edition of the international men's lacrosse championship. The event took place in Baltimore, Maryland under the auspices of the International Lacrosse Federation. This was the second time that the tournament was held in Baltimore, following the 1982 tournament. Eleven teams competed in the event in two divisions. The United States successfully defended their title for the fifth consecutive time, defeating Canada 15–14 in double overtime in the final. The championship game – in which Canada overcame a ten-goal deficit in the third quarter to force overtime – is considered by some to be the most exciting lacrosse game in history. Australia Women's National Lacrosse Team
The Australia women's national lacrosse team represents Australia at women's lacrosse. It is governed by the Australian Lacrosse Association and is a full member of the Federation of International Lacrosse. They have won the Women's Lacrosse World Cup twice, in 1986 and 2005, and have been runners-up 4 times. They are currently ranked fourth in the world, finishing behind the United States, Canada and England at the 2017 FIL Women's Lacrosse World Cup, which was held in Guildford, Surrey, England, while also finishing third in the 2017 World Games women's lacrosse tournament, held in Wrocław, Poland, behind the United States and Canada, but ahead of Great Britain. The Haudenosaunee Nationals Men’s Lacrosse Team, formerly known as the Iroquois Nationals, represents the Iroquois Confederacy in international field lacrosse competition. Netanya (also known as Natanya, he, נְתַנְיָה) is a city in the Northern Central District of Israel, and is the capital of the surrounding Sharon plain. The 2018 World Lacrosse Championship was the 13th edition of the international men's field lacrosse tournament for national teams organized by the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL). As many as 50 countries were expected to compete in the tournament; with the official total coming in at 46, which made the 2018 WLC the largest of all-time. 2010 World Lacrosse Championship
The 2010 World Lacrosse Championship was held between 15–24 July. This international men's field lacrosse tournament organized by the Federation of International Lacrosse took place in Manchester, United Kingdom. This was the third time that the tournament was played in Greater Manchester, after the 1978 and 1994 championships. The United States captured their ninth gold medal, defeating Canada 12–10 in the championship game. Paul Rabil of Team USA was named tournament MVP.
