Tim Howard (born 23 June 1996) is an Australian field hockey player who plays as a defender for the Australian national team. Career Junior national teams Howard has represented Australia at junior level in both Under 18 and Under 21 age groups. In 2014, Howard captained the Australia Under 18 side at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China. The team won the gold medal, defeating Canada 3–2 in a penalty shoot-out following a 3–3 draw. Howard also made his debut for the Australian Under 21 side, 'The Burras', in 2014 at the Sultan of Johor Cup. Howard also competed at the 2015 and 2016 editions of the Sultan of Johor Cup, winning a gold medal in 2016. Louis Matthew Bird (born 31 October 1990) is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender from 2008 to 2011. He played in the Football League for Grimsby Town, as well as playing for Frickley Athletic and Boston United on loan. Career Grimsby Town Bird came through the youth team Grimsby Town. Athletics (sport), Athletics at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 20 to 26 August at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Center in Nanjing, China. Qualification Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) could enter a maximum of 36 athletes, 18 per each gender and 1 per each event. As hosts, China is given 2 quotas, 1 per each gender and 136 places. 68 spots per each gender was decided by the Tripartite Commission. The remaining 540 places were divided evenly among the individual events and were decided among a single continental qualification event for each continent with the exception of the Americas in which they hosted three.
