Australia Men's National Under-18 Ice Hockey Team
The Australia men's national under-18 ice hockey team is controlled by Ice Hockey Australia and represents Australia in international under-18 ice hockey competitions. Australia plays in Division IIB of the IIHF World U18 Championships. History In 1984 Australia first competed in the inaugural IIHF Asian Oceanic Junior U18 Championships held in Kushiro and Tomakomai, Japan. Australia lost all six of their games being beaten by Japan, China and South Korea. Australia continued to compete in the annual IIHF Asian Oceanic Junior U18 Championships missing only the 1989, 1991, 1995, 1996 and 1997 tournaments. In 2002 Australia competed in the final edition of the Championships which was being discontinued in favour of teams being offered a place in Division III of the IIHF World U18 Championships. Glove (ice Hockey)
There are two styles of gloves worn by ice hockey players. Skaters wear similar gloves on each hand, while goaltenders wear gloves of different types on each hand. West Coast Ice Hockey Association
The Western Australian Ice Hockey Association, currently trading as Ice Hockey Western Australia is the governing body of ice hockey in Western Australia. Ice Hockey WA is a branch of Ice Hockey Australia. Ice Hockey Western Australia (IHWA) was formed as the Western Australian state branch for Ice Hockey Australia. It is responsible for organising the four state leagues. It is also responsible for selecting the state teams to compete in the national tournaments. The Sydney Sabres are an Australian junior ice hockey team based in Sydney playing in the Australian Junior Ice Hockey League. They represent one of the two junior ice hockey teams from New South Wales currently playing in the AJIHL, which is the most elite level for ice hockey at a national level for ages between 16–20 years old. The Perth Sharks are an Australian junior ice hockey team based in Perth, Western Australia playing in the Australian Junior Ice Hockey League. Blacktown is a suburb in the City of Blacktown, in Greater Western Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Blacktown is located west of the Sydney central business district. Alternate Captain
In ice hockey, the captain is the player designated by a team as the only person authorized to speak with the game officials regarding rule interpretations when the captain is on the ice. At most levels of play each team must designate one captain and a number of alternate captains (usually two or three) who speak to the officials when the captain is on the bench. Captains wear a "C" on their sweaters, while alternate captains wear an "A". In ice hockey, the goaltender (commonly referred to as the goalie) is the player responsible for preventing the hockey puck from entering their team's net, thus preventing the opposing team from scoring. Defenceman
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from Goal (ice hockey), scoring. They are often referred to as defencemen, D, D-men or blueliners (the latter a reference to the blue line in ice hockey which represents the boundary of the offensive zone; defencemen generally position themselves along the line to keep the puck in the zone).
