Austin Station (CTA Blue Line)
Austin is a station on the 'L' system, serving the Blue Line's Forest Park branch. It is located at Austin Boulevard alongside the Eisenhower Expressway in Oak Park, Illinois. The station has an auxiliary entrance/exit at Lombard Avenue. After CTA Blue Line trains pass the station, the CTA line splits away from the Baltimore and Ohio Chicago Terminal Railroad lines letting the CTA Blue Line continue into Chicago afterwards. Austin is a metro station, station on the Chicago Transit Authority's Chicago 'L', 'L' system. It is located between the Ridgeland (CTA station), Ridgeland and Central (CTA Green Line station), Central stations on the Green Line (CTA), Green Line, which runs from Harlem/Lake station, Harlem/Lake and to Ashland/63rd (CTA station), Ashland/63rd and Cottage Grove (CTA station), Cottage Grove. The station is located at the intersection of Austin Boulevard and Corcoran Place in the Austin, Chicago, Austin neighborhood on Chicago's West Side and borders the village of Oak Park, Illinois, Oak Park. Austin opened on April 15, 1899, as part of a surface level extension of the Lake Street Elevated Railroad, along with Central.
