Austin Highsmith Garces, also credited as Austin Highsmith (born March 3, 1981), is an American actress. Garces played Phoebe in '' Dolphin Tale'' as well as the sequel, '' Dolphin Tale 2'' and Garces later co-wrote a Lifetime film based on the series. She later wrote and co-starred in ''Harvest of the Heart''. In January 2023, she originated the role of Annie in Warren Leight's '' Home Front'' at Burbank's Victory Theater Center. ''Dolphin Tale'' is a 2011 American 3D family drama film directed by Charles Martin Smith, from a screenplay by Karen Janszen and Noam Dromi and a book of the same name. It stars Harry Connick Jr., Ashley Judd, Nathan Gamble, Kris Kristofferson, Cozi Zuehlsdorff in her film debut, and Morgan Freeman. The book and film are inspired by the true story of Winter, a bottlenose dolphin that was rescued in December 2005 off the Florida coast and taken in by the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. ''Dolphin Tale 2'' is a 2014 American family film written and directed by Charles Martin Smith as the sequel to his 2011 film ''Dolphin Tale'' which in-turn was based on the true story about a rescued bottlenose dolphin named Winter who made her final on-screen appearance in this film. In addition to Winter, most of the cast from the first film also reprise their roles including Harry Connick Jr., Ashley Judd, Nathan Gamble, Cozi Zuehlsdorff, Kris Kristofferson, Morgan Freeman, Austin Stowell, Tom Nowicki, Betsy Landin and Juliana Harkavy while Hope made her film debut. Warren Donald Leight (; born January 17, 1957) is an American playwright, screenwriter, film director and television producer. He is best known for his work on ''Law & Order: Criminal Intent'' and '' Lights Out'' and as the showrunner for ''In Treatment'' and '' Law & Order: Special Victims Unit''. It tells the story of an interracial couple, Annie and James, who meet while celebrating V-J Day, and was inspired by the famous photo of a kiss in Times Square. The story showcases the daily life of the couple in New York City and the deep South, where James is stationed awaiting his final release. Production history The character of James was inspired by the men of the Golden 13 and Eddie, the neighbor, by Leight's uncle. The show, whose first scene was written as part of a benefit event in 1998 and had an original run under the name ''James and Annie'' in 2003, had readings in 2011 and 2018 before a Twitter inquiry brought fresh eyes to it.
