Jean Daurat
Jean Daurat (Occitan: Joan Dorat; Latin: Auratus) (3 April 15081 November 1588) was a French poet, scholar and a member of a group known as '' The Pléiade''. Early life He was born Joan Dinemandy in Limoges and was a member of a noble family. After studying at the College of Limoges, he came to Paris to be presented to King Francis I of France, who made him tutor to his pages. He rapidly gained an immense reputation as a classical scholar. Career As a private tutor in the house of Lazare de Baif, he had Jean-Antoine de Baif for his pupil. His son, Louis, showed great precocity and at the age of ten, translated into French verse one of his father's Latin pieces. His poems were published with his father's. Daurat became director of the Collège de Coqueret, where he had among his pupils Antoine de Baif, Pierre de Ronsard, Remy Belleau, and Pontus de Tyard. Pierre Doré
Pierre Doré (Auratus) (c.1500 – 19 May 1559) was a French dominican Order, Dominican theologian and controversialist. Life Doré was born at Orléans. He entered the Dominican Order in 1514 and won his degrees at Paris, in 1532. Though elected to the office of prior at Blois in 1545, Doré continued to preach throughout the provinces. At Châlons the bishop, impressed by his eloquence, entrusted him with the reform of the Carthusian monastery of Val des Choux (Vallis Caulium). For the same reason, Claude de Lorraine, Duke of Guise, and his consort, Antoinette de Bourbon, chose him as confessor. He died in Paris. Works He wrote thirty-five ascetico-theological works, which may be redactions of sermons. Northern Flicker
The northern flicker or common flicker (''Colaptes auratus'') is a medium-sized bird of the woodpecker family. It is native to most of North America, parts of Central America, Cuba, and the Cayman Islands, and is one of the few woodpecker species that migrate. Golden Hamster
The golden hamster or Syrian hamster (''Mesocricetus auratus'') is a rodent belonging to the hamster subfamily, Cricetinae. Their natural geographical range is in an arid region of northern Syria and southern Turkey. The Australasian snapper (''Chrysophrys auratus'') or silver seabream is a species of porgie found in coastal waters of Australia, Philippines, Indonesia, mainland China, Taiwan, Japan and New Zealand. The Golden galaxias (''Galaxias auratus'') is an endangered species of landlocked galaxiid fish belonging to the genus '' Galaxias''. It is endemic to Lakes Crescent, Sorell, and their associated waterways located in central Tasmania, Australia. Description The Golden galaxias are small scaleless salmoniform fish that typically grows from 140mm to a maximum of 240mm in length (tip of snout to tail).
