August Schwendenwein Von Lanauberg
August Schwendenwein von Lanauberg (1 December 1817, Vienna - 3 November 1885, Vienna) was an Austrian architect who built several Viennese palaces. Life and works He came from a poor family, that worked hard to put him through school. From 1833 to 1836, he studied at the (now part of the Technical University of Vienna) then, from 1836 to 1840, at the Academy of Fine Arts. He was awarded the Academy's Gundel-Prize for excellence in 1837. After graduating, a scholarship enabled him to continue his studies in Munich and take several study trips. From the 1840s, he worked closely with , a childhood friend and fellow student. Their firm became prominent in the field of rental and commercial buildings, but they specialized in upper-class residential architecture. Romano was essentially the company's salesman, so he became familiar throughout Viennese society, whereas Schwendenwein was largely unknown, although the designs were predominantly his. Nikolaus Dumba (Greek: Νικόλαος Δούμπας; 24 July 1830, Vienna – 23 March 1900, Budapest) was an Austrian industrialist and liberal politician. He is considered to have been an important patron of the arts and music and a benefactor of Greece. Biography In 1817, Nikolaus' father Stergios, an immigrant to Vienna from a family from Vlasti of Aromanian-Greek descent, then part of the Ottoman Empire and today a village in Northern Greece, became a merchant. Nikolaus attended the Akademische Gymnasium and spent the revolutionary years of 1847-48 with his brother Michael at the residence of the Austrian Ambassador Anton von Prokesch-Osten in Athens. In 1852, he took a trip to Egypt with the travel writer Alexander Ziegler. He was trained for a commercial career and took over a cotton mill in Tattendorf that had been operated by his cousin Theodore. Friedrich Schey Freiherr von Koromla (5 March 1815, in Kőszeg – 15 July 1881, in Lainz) was an Austrian banker. Around 1863, he built Palais Schey von Koromla in Vienna, Austria. Life Friedrich Schey was the son of a wealthy Jewish owner of a trading company in Güns (now Kőszeg). He attended high school in his hometown and then studied law at the Lyceum in Ödenburg and in 1831/1832 at the Polytechnicum Vienna. In 1835 he worked for the Wertheimstein banking house in Vienna, but returned to Güns, where he joined his parents' business. In 1839 he married Emilie Landauer (1817-1840) and became a partner in his father-in-law's business. After the death of his first wife, Schey married her sister Charlotte Landauer (1820-1842) in 1840 and, four years after her death, the Landauer daughter Hermine (1822-1902). Währing () is the 18th district of Vienna and lies in northwestern Vienna on the edge of the Vienna Woods. It was formed in 1892 from the unification of the older suburbs of Währing, Weinhaus, Gersthof, Pötzleinsdorf, Neustift am Walde and Salmannsdorf.
