August Bondi
August Bondi (Jewish name Anshl; July 21, 1833, in Vienna, Austria – September 30, 1907, in St. Louis, Missouri, United States) was an Austrian-American Jew involved in the Border War (Bleeding Kansas) and later the American Civil War. In Kansas, he was a part of the Pottawatomie Rifles and fought alongside abolitionists John Brown and James Lane. August Bondi was born July 21, 1833, in Vienna, Austria. The Bondis, Jewish European refugees, fled the Austrian Empire after the failed revolutions of 1848 and settled in St. Louis, Missouri. August Bondi moved to the Pottawatomie Creek valley in Franklin County, Kansas in 1855 with his business partner, Jacob Benjamin and began homesteading. The Bondi and Benjamin homesteads were near the forks of Mosquito Creek northwest of Dutch Henry's Crossing (Lane, Kansas). American Milking Devon
The American Milking Devon is an American breed of dual-purpose cattle, reared both for milk and for beef. It derives from the Devon cattle of the United States, which in turn are derived from the North Devon cattle of south-west England. It was established as a separate breed in 1978 with the formation of the American Milking Devon Cattle Association, after the breeding aims of the Devon were concentrated almost exclusively on beef production. It is a rare breed: its conservation status is listed as by the Livestock Conservancy as 'critical'. Bernard Krigstein (; March 22, 1919 – January 8, 1990), was an American illustrator and gallery artist who received acclaim for his innovative and influential approach to comic book art, notably in EC Comics. His artwork usually displayed the signature B. Krigstein. His best-known work in comic books is the eight-page story "Master Race", originally published in the debut issue (cover-dated April 1955) of EC Comics' ''Impact''. Salina, Kansas
Salina is a city in, and the county seat of, Saline County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 46,889. In the early 1800s, the Kanza tribal land reached eastward from the middle of the Kansas Territory. In 1858, settlers from Lawrence founded the Salina Town Company with a wagon circle, under constant threat of High Plains tribal attacks from the west. It was named for the salty Saline River. Saline County was soon organized around this township, and in 1870, Salina incorporated as a city.
