''Auguri e figli maschi!'' is a 1951 Italian film directed by Giorgio Simonelli. Plot A marshal's daughters are engaged to three boys, but they can't get married because they can't find apartments to live in on their own. The boys finally find a place to live in peace, but a scammer tricks them into getting married quietly. The boys later found themselves amazed at the ruin of the house. The three couples try them all: from a beauty pageant to a dating house and finally choosing the definitive accommodation in their father-in-law's house. Giorgio Simonelli (14 November 1901 Birth name: Giorgio Simonelli. – 3 October 1966), was an Italian film director, editor, screenwriter and journalist. Life and career Born in Rome, Simonelli obtained a high school diploma in business studies, then he started working as a journalist, and even as a film critic, for the weekly magazines ''Avvenimento'' and ''Gente nostra''. In 1928, at 22, he made his directorial debut co-directing with Nicola Fausto Neroni ''Maratona'' and two years later he was among the screenwriters of the first Italian talking film, ''The Song of Love (1930 film), The Song of Love'' by Gennaro Righelli. Franca Tamantini (24 August 1931 – 11 August 2014) was an Italian film, television and stage actress. Life and career Born in Rome, since young age Tamantini studied piano, singing and classical dance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. Guglielmo Inglese (24 November 1892 – 14 January 1972) was an Italian actor, radio personality and playwright. Life and career Born in Naples into a family of Apulian origins, Inglese debuted on stage as a child actor at 2 years old, and then he was part of some of the most important stage companies of the time, including the one led by Raffaele Viviani in 1920. He abandoned the theater to devote himself to radio, with which he got a large popularity thanks to his comic monologues caricaturing typical Southern stock characters, notably the "peasant from Apulia". He made his cinema debut when he already was mature aged, in 1948, and was mostly cast in character roles in which he reprised his radio repertoire. Carlo Croccolo (9 April 1927 – 12 October 2019) was an Italian actor, voice actor, director and screenwriter. Biography Born in Naples, Croccolo began his acting career on the radio and he appeared in more than 100 films since 1949. His debut came in the 1949 film ''The Firemen of Viggiù'' and he made his first television debut in 1956. He was best known for some of his collaborations with Totò mainly throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Croccolo’s international appearance came from the 1996 film '' In Love and War'' directed by Richard Attenborough. He also had an intense theatrical career as he often starred in plays directed by Eduardo De Filippo and Giorgio Strehler. As a voice actor, Croccolo performed the Italian voice of Oliver Hardy in the 1951-1953 redubs of ''Laurel and Hardy'' in which he was paired with Fiorenzo Fiorentini (the Italian voice of Stan Laurel). Age & Scarpelli () is the stage name used by the pair of Italian screenwriters Agenore Incrocci (1914–2005) and Furio Scarpelli (1919–2010). Together, they wrote the script for about a hundred movies, mainly satirical comedies. The duo started working together in '' Totò cerca casa'' of 1949, and ended their collaboration in the 1980s. They worked for many famous Italian directors, like Sergio Leone (''The Good, the Bad and the Ugly''), Mario Monicelli (including their major work, ''L'armata Brancaleone''), Dino Risi, Luigi Comencini, Pietro Germi and Ettore Scola and they wrote the dialogues of many Totò movies.
