Aubrey Davies
David Aubrey Davies (11 July 1915 – 24 July 1994) was a Welsh cricketer. Davies was a right-handed batsman who bowled leg break googly. He was born in Swansea, Glamorgan. Davies made his first-class debut for Glamorgan in the 1934 County Championship against Leicestershire. He played first-class cricket for Glamorgan from 1934 to 1938, making 46 appearances. A batsman, Davies scored 600 runs at a batting average of 12.50, with a single half century high score of 55. His highest first-class score came against Surrey in 1937. Occasionally called upon to bowl, he took 14 wickets at a bowling average of 54.28, with best figures of 3/63. His best bowling figures came against Warwickshire in Glamorgan's opening match of 1938. Minor Counties Of English And Welsh Cricket
The National Counties, known as the Minor Counties before 2020, are the cricketing counties of England and Wales that do not have first-class status. The game is administered by the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), which comes under the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). There are currently twenty teams in National Counties cricket: nineteen representing historic counties of England, plus the Wales National County Cricket Club. The NCCA 3 Day Championship (previously the Minor Counties Cricket Championship) is a season-long competition in England and Wales that is contested by the members of the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), the so-called national counties that do not have first-class status. In cricket, a player's bowling average is the number of runs they have conceded per wicket taken. The lower the bowling average is, the better the bowler is performing. It is one of a number of statistics used to compare bowlers, commonly used alongside the economy rate and the strike rate to judge the overall performance of a bowler. When a bowler has taken only a small number of wickets, their bowling average can be artificially high or low, and unstable, with further wickets taken or runs conceded resulting in large changes to their bowling average.
