Aubert or d'Aubert is a family of the French nobility, and a branch belongs also to the Nobility of Denmark and to the Nobility of Norway. The family originates in the town of Thionville in Lothringen, where their progenitor Jean Aubert was a merchant. Today members live in France, in Denmark, in Norway, in Sweden, and in Germany. Michael Conrad Sophus Emil Aubert (2 July 1811 – 8 November 1872) was a Norwegian jurist and politician. Biography Aubert was born in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. He was one of ten children born to Benoni Aubert (1768–1832) and Jakobine Henriette Thaulow (1776-1833). One of his brother was professor Ludvig Cæsar Martin Aubert (1807–1887). He graduated as cand.jur. in 1835. He worked as an attorney from 1836, and diocesan attorney (''stiftprokurator'') in Bergen from 1841. Christopher Morgenstierne Munthe
Christopher Morgenstierne Munthe 14 July 1875 – 21 December 1939) was a Norwegian civil servant, military officer and genealogist. Biography He was a born in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway. He was the son of colonel and historian Hartvig Andreas Munthe (1845–1905). He was also a grandnephew of historian and cartographer Gerhard Munthe, a nephew of painter Gerhard Munthe, writer Margrethe Munthe and Major General Carl Oscar Munthe, and a first cousin of librarian Wilhelm Munthe and painter Lagertha Munthe. After graduating from the Norwegian Military College, he became a lieutenant in the Kristiansand Brigade. Later he joined the Field Artillery and became captain in 1911. Vilhelm Aubert
Johan Vilhelm Aubert (7 June 1922 – 19 July 1988) was an influential Norwegian sociologist. He was a professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Oslo from 1963 to 1971 and at the Department of Sociology from 1971 to 1988. He co-founded the Norwegian Institute for Social Research already in 1950, and has been labelled the " father of Norwegian sociology". In his early life he was a member of the anti-Nazi resistance group XU, and while later involved on the radical wing of the Labour Party, he edited the newspaper ''Orientering''. Axel Aubert
Axel Aubert (11 December 1873 – 16 December 1943) was a Norwegian chemical engineer who served as Director-General of Norsk Hydro. Biography He was born in Kristiania (now Oslo, Norway). He was the son of Otto Benjamin Andreas Aubert (1841–98) and Hilda Thaulow (1846–1923). After first studies at the Oslo Technical College, he then studied engineering at the University of Berlin and earned a doctorate in chemistry at the University of Basel in 1895. He became the managing director of Engene Dynamitfabrik and Norsk Sprængstofindustri. In 1926 he was hired as Director-General (CEO) of Norsk Hydro. In 1940, while Norway was still neutral in World War II, Aubert was contacted by agents from French military intelligence regarding Norsk Hydro's production of heavy water (deuterium oxide) at its Vemork hydroelectric plant.
