Arthur Henry Attwell (5 August 19202 March 1991) was Bishop of Sodor and Man from 1983 to 1988. He served as Dean of Kimberley, South Africa, from 1953 to 1959 and afterwards as Rector of Workington, Cumberland. Family and education Son of Henry John and Kate, Atwell was born in 1920 and attended Wilson School, Reading. He was further educated at Leeds University, gaining a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in 1941, before training for the ministry at the College of the Resurrection (Mirfield). He later gained the degrees of Bachelor of Divinity (BD, 1947), Master of Theology (MTh, 1958), and Master of Arts (MA, 1972), all from the University of London; and married Muriel Isobel Hesson in 1982. Jamie Wayne Attwell (born 8 June 1982 in Bristol) is an English football goalkeeper. He represented Wales at junior level. Attwell began his career as a junior with local Bristol sides Shirehampton and St. Vallier, before joining Everton's junior scheme. He failed to settle at Everton and returned to Bristol in March 2001, playing a couple trial games for Bristol City before signing a three-year traineeship with Tottenham Hotspur. Mabel Lucie Attwell (4 June 1879 – 5 November 1964) was a British illustrator and comics artist. She was known for her cute, nostalgic drawings of children. Her drawings are featured on many postcards, advertisements, posters, books and figurines. Biography Attwell was born in Mile End, London, 4 June 1879, the sixth child of butcher Augustus Attwell and his wife Emily Ann. She was educated privately and at the Coopers' Company School and at the Regent Street school. She studied at Heatherley's and Saint Martin's School of Art, but left to develop her own interest in imaginary subjects, disliking the emphasis on still-life drawing and classical subjects. After she sold work to the ''Tatler'' and '' Bystander'', she was taken on by the agents Francis and Mills, leading to a long and consistently successful career. Michael John Attwell (16 January 1943 – 18 March 2006) was an English film and television actor. He is possibly best known for his role as Kenny Beale in the television soap opera ''EastEnders''. After training at RADA (studying Stage Management), Attwell went into repertory theatre at Newcastle Playhouse. Among his theatrical appearances include playing Pharaoh in ''Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat'' and Sky Masterson in ''Guys and Dolls'' (both at Haymarket Theatre). Frederick Reginald Attwell (23 March 1920 – 1 December 1986) was an English professional association footballer who played as a right wing-half. He played in the Football League for West Ham United, Burnley and Bradford City, and also had spells in non-league football. Personal life Attwell was born in Shifnal, Shropshire, the son of a footballer. During the Second World War, he served in the British Army with the Essex Regiment. Following the conclusion of his football career, he lived in Burnley, Lancashire, where he resided until his death at the age of 66. Rory Attwell is an English musician, best known for his part in UK punk trio Test Icicles, who formed in 2004 and played a handful of concerts before disbanding on 22 April 2006, after their sold out final show at the Astoria in London. During their time together they released the album ''For Screening Purposes Only'', and had UK Top 40 singles with "What's Your Damage" and " Circle. Square. Triangle". Post Test Icicles After Test Icicles split he went on to form RAT:ATT:AGG (later known as Wrists), with members of Bullet Union, Navajo Code and Abandon Ship. Stuart Steven Attwell (born 6 October 1982) is an English football referee who officiates primarily in the Premier League. Attwell made a prominent debut in 2008 as the youngest person ever to referee in the Premier League. but was demoted from the Select Group in February 2012, returning to refereeing in the Football League.
