Attercliffe Railway Station
Attercliffe railway station was built to serve the Parish of Attercliffe cum Darnall, then separated from but now part of the City of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The station was situated on the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway company's line between Woodburn Junction and Tinsley Junction which was served by trains between Sheffield Victoria, Barnsley and Rotherham Central. Access to the station was by a footpath from Worksop Road. At the station's opening this was the main road between Attercliffe (it left the main Sheffield-Rotherham road opposite the parish church), and Darnall. The station consisted of two platforms flanking the lines and these were linked by a subway. History The original station was opened in August 1871, closed on 31 December 1900 and replaced by a new structure which opened the following day. Don Valley Stadium
Don Valley Stadium was a sports stadium in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The venue, which was completed in September 1990, hosted the 1991 World Student Games. It was designed by Sheffield City Council's Design & Building Services and named after the nearby River Don. It was demolished in 2013. The stadium and facilities were also used for a variety of other events and sports. It served as a training base for the City of Sheffield Athletic Club and was the home of the Sheffield Half Marathon. Rotherham United F.C. played their home matches at Don Valley between 2008 and 2012 when they were without a ground in Rotherham. Broughton Lane Railway Station
Broughton Lane railway station was a railway station in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The station served the communities of Darnall, Attercliffe and Carbrook and was one of those opened on 1 August 1864 with the South Yorkshire Railway's extension south from Tinsley Junction to Woodburn Junction where it met the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway (MS&LR). The day the line was opened the SYR became part of the MS&LR. This link allowed the MS&LR access to Barnsley and Rotherham from Sheffield Victoria. The station, with its main access by steps from Broughton Lane bridge, possessed two flanking platforms although was surrounded by sidings. The station closed on 3 April 1956 and there are now no signs of it ever existing. The Sheffield & Tinsley Canal is a canal in the City of Sheffield, England. It runs from Tinsley, where it leaves the River Don, to the Sheffield Canal Basin (now Victoria Quays) in the city centre, passing through 11 locks.
