The Women's 100 metres at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, as part of the athletics programme, was held at Hampden Park on 27 and 28 July 2014. Results First round The first round consisted of six heats, with qualification for the first three in each heat, and the six fastest losers overall. Nigeria's Blessing Okagbare was the fastest qualifier from the first round, at 11.20 seconds. After qualifying from the first round, Michelle-Lee Ahye of Trinidad and Tobago announced her withdrawal due to hamstring concerns. 2014 Commonwealth Games
The 2014 Commonwealth Games ( gd, Geamannan a' Cho-fhlaitheis 2014), officially known as the XX Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Glasgow 2014, ( sco, Glesca 2014 or Glesga 2014; gd, Glaschu 2014), was an international multi-sport event celebrated in the tradition of the Commonwealth Games as governed by the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF). It took place in Glasgow, Scotland, from 23 July to 3 August 2014. Glasgow was selected as the host city on 9 November 2007 during CGF General Assembly in Colombo, Sri Lanka, defeating Abuja, Nigeria. It was the largest multi-sport event ever held in Scotland with around 4,950 athletes from 71 different nations and territories competing in 18 different sports, outranking the 1970 and 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh. Cache Armbrister
Caché Armbrister (born 26 September 1989) is a Bahamian sprinter of Jamaican descent who specializes in the 100 metres, 200 metres and 400 metres She grew up in Nassau, where she attended St. Augustine's College. She later competed for Auburn University along with Nivea Smith and Sheniqua Ferguson who were all coached by Henry Rolle. During the 2013 season she moved to Jamaica to be coached by Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake's coach Glen Mills. Ambrister now does athletic training for all ages. Khamica Bingham
Khamica Bingham (born June 15, 1994) is a Canadian track and field athlete who specialises in the 100 metres. She has represented Canada at the Pan American Games, Commonwealth Games and the World Championships in Athletics. Bingham was born on June 15, 1994, in North York, Ontario. As a high schooler, she attended Heart Lake Secondary School. Originally a national-level gymnast, she switched to track due to the financial burden to her family of staying in her first sport. Irene Bell Bonong (born 6 January 1995) is a Cameroonian sprinter. Bonong competed individually at the 2014 Commonwealth Games (100 and 200 metres) as well as the 2014 African Championships (100 metres) without progressing from the first round. As a relay runner, Bonong finished fifth at the 2014 African Championships (4 × 400 metres relay), sixth at the 2015 African Games (4 × 100 metres relay, also disqualified in the 4 × 400 metres relay) and sixth at the 2018 Commonwealth Games (4 × 100 metres relay). Narayana (Sanskrit: नारायण, IAST: ''Nārāyaṇa'') is one of the forms and names of Vishnu, who is in yogic slumber under the celestial waters, referring to the masculine principle. He is also known as Purushottama, and is considered the Supreme Being in Vaishnavism. Etymology L. B. Keny proposes that Narayana was associated with the Dravidian, and ultimately, the Indus Valley Civilisation, prior to his syncretism with Vishnu. Flings Owusu-Agyapong
Flings Owusu-Agyapong (born 16 October 1988) is a Ghanaian sprinter. She was born in Kumasi, Ghana to parents Kwadwo Agyapong and Adwoa Akomaa and moved to Toronto, Canada when she was 9 years old. She started training with the Flying Angels athletics club after her sophomore year of high school. In 2006 and 2007 she made the Ontario provincial team for the National Scholastic Indoor Championships. Owusu-Agyapong attended Syracuse University on an athletic scholarship. While at Syracuse she broke the school records for the 55, 60, and 100 metres and was a two-time 2nd team All-American. She graduated from Syracuse with a Bachelor of Science degree in public health. Crystal Emmanuel
Crystal Emmanuel (born November 27, 1991) is a Canadian sprinter who specialises in the 200 metres. She is the Canadian champion in both the 100m and 200m as of July 2018. Crystal also holds the 200m record for Canada, having broken a record that stood for 34 years. She competed in this event at the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics, but was eliminated in the semi-finals. At the 2013 World Championships in Athletics, she was eliminated in the heats after being disqualified for a lane infringement. Sheniqua Ferguson (born 24 November 1989) is a Bahamian sprinter who specializes in the 100 and 200 metres. She was born in Nassau. She was part of the Bahamian team that won silver in the women's 4 x 100 m at the 2009 World Championships. She was the 2008 Junior World Champion in the 200 m, and also won bronze in the 100 m that year. She competed in the 200m at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
