Athletics At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's Pole Vault
The women's pole vault competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom, was held at the Olympic Stadium on 4–6 August. In the qualifying round, the 12 competitors who cleared 4.55 went into the final. Non-qualifiers included junior record holder Angelica Bengtsson, former world record holder Svetlana Feofanova and reigning world champion Fabiana Murer. Wind and rain made conditions difficult in the final. The gold medal was won by Jennifer Suhr who cleared 4.75, silver by Yarisley Silva who also cleared 4.75, but had one more missed attempt at a lower height and bronze by two-time reigning champion Elena Isinbaeva who cleared 4.70. Alana Boyd
Alana Quade ( Boyd, born 10 May 1984) is a former Australian pole vaulter and Olympian. Athletic career The 2008 Australian Champion, Boyd was selected for the 2007 World Championships, but did not make the final. She did not make the final at the 2008 Summer Olympics, but did at the 2012 Summer Olympics, where she finished in 11th place. Boyd won the gold medal for the women's pole vault at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, which she retained at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Becky Holliday
Rebecca "Becky" Holliday is an American pole vaulter, born March 12, 1980. She placed 2nd at the 2012 US Olympic trials in Eugene, Oregon with a final clearance of 14-11 (4.55m), qualifying her for the 2012 Summer Olympics where she finished 9th in the finals. In 2003, as a senior competing for the University of Oregon, Holliday placed 1st at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Her personal record is 4.60m, set in Des Moines, Iowa in 2010. Holliday began pole vaulting at Reed High School in Sparks, Nevada. Jumping 11' 9" she won the Nevada state title in her second year of vaulting. Previous to taking up the pole vault, she had been a gymnast. Holly Bethan Bradshaw (née Bleasdale, born 2 November 1991) is a British track and field athlete who specialises in the pole vault. Silke Spiegelburg (born 17 March 1986 in Georgsmarienhütte, Lower Saxony) is a German pole vaulter. She is the younger sister of Richard Spiegelburg. She represented Germany at the Summer Olympics in 2004, 2008 and 2012, as well as having competed at the World Championships in Athletics. She is a European silver medallist in the event both indoors and outdoors. Anna Rogowska (born 21 May 1981) is a retired Polish athlete who specialised in the pole vault. She became the World Champion in 2009 in Berlin. Career Born in Gdynia, she won the bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics, narrowly beating Monika Pyrek, another Polish pole vaulter born in Gdynia. Elizaveta Ryzih (born 27 September 1988 in Omsk, Soviet Union) is a German pole vault athlete. Two times an Olympian, she was 6th in London and 10th in Rio Olympic games.
