Centennial Olympic Stadium was the 85,000-seat main stadium of the 1996 Summer Olympics and Paralympics in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Construction of the stadium began in 1993, and it was complete and ready for the opening ceremony in July 1996, where it hosted track and field events and the closing ceremony. After the Olympics and Paralympics, it was reconstructed into the baseball-specific Turner Field, used by the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball for 20 seasons (1997–2016). Vicki Huber (born May 29, 1967) is a retired United States, American Middle distance running, middle distance and Cross country running, cross country runner. Biography Vicki Huber was born on May 29, 1967, in Wilmington, Delaware. Huber attended Concord High School (Wilmington, Delaware), Concord High School where she began running as conditioning for field hockey. Concord's coach, Joe McNichol, recalled seeing Huber as "el Caballo", a reference to Alberto Juantorena, a Cuban Olympic champion. McNichol said that she "ran exactly like" Juantorena and that she was "a real thoroughbred." Huber won five state titles as a prep athlete, setting state records in the 800 and 1600 meters. After graduating from high school, Huber attended Villanova University, where she continued her running career. Huber struggled at first due to the intensity of the training program. Cătălina Gheorghiu (born 21 June 1969) is a Romanian middle-distance runner. She competed in the at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Specializing in the 800 metres at a young age, she won the silver medals at both the 1987 European Athletics Championships and the 1988 World Junior Championships. She also competed individually at the 1987 World Championships without reaching the final, and was on the team that finished sixth in the 4 × 400 metres relay at the 1988 World Junior Championships. Leah Pells
Leah Marlee Pells (born November 9, 1964 in Vancouver, British Columbia) is a retired female track and field Athletics (sport), athlete from Canada who competed in the middle-distance running, middle distance events and was once ranked first in the world in the 1500 metres. She represented Canada at three consecutive Summer Olympics from Athletics at the 1992 Summer Olympics, 1992 to 2000. Pells finished fourth in the Athletics at the 1996 Summer Olympics – Women's 1500 metres, 1500 metre race in 1996 Summer Olympics, Atlanta. Pells won the silver medal in the women's 1500 metres at the Athletics at the 1999 Pan American Games, 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg.
