Commonwealth Stadium (Edmonton)
Commonwealth Stadium is an open-air, multipurpose stadium located in the McCauley neighbourhood of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It has a seating capacity of 56,302, making it the largest open-air stadium in Canada. Primarily used for Canadian football, it also hosts athletics, soccer, rugby union and concerts. Construction commenced in 1975 and the venue opened ahead of the 1978 Commonwealth Games (hence its name), replacing the adjacent Clarke Stadium as the home of the Edmonton Eskimos (the Elks' name until 2020). It received a major expansion ahead of the 1983 Summer Universiade, when it reached a capacity of 60,081. Its main tenants are the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL), and has hosted five Grey Cups, the CFL's championship game. Ephraim Serrette
Ephraim Serrette (born 6 October 1957 in Port of Spain) is a former sprinter from Trinidad and Tobago. He is the president of the country's athletics body, the National Association of Athletics Administrations of Trinidad & Tobago. He made his international debut in the relay at the 1976 CARIFTA Games, but the team was disqualified for running out of the lane. His first international medal, a silver, came at the 1977 Central American and Caribbean Championships in Athletics in the relay. He rose to prominence that year by winning both the senior and junior national titles in the 100 metres – he defeated the leading athlete of the time, Hasely Crawford, with a run of 10.01 seconds. Brian William Green (born 15 May 1941 in Ormskirk) is a British former sprinter. Background Green attended Walton Grammar School and worked as an advertising assistant. He came to sprinting late, having previously divided his time between other sporting interests including squash, badminton, and hockey. Sprinting career Standing at Green was once told he was too short to be a sprinter. Despite this, at the age of 31, Green became the fastest man in Britain, recording a time of 10.1 seconds in Bratislava. Green competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics. Andrew Emlyn "Drew" McMaster (born 10 May 1957 in Edinburgh) is a retired Scottish sprinter. In 1976, he was Scottish, AAA's Indoor, and Junior 200 metres champion. He went on to win two further Scottish 200 metres titles in 1977, and 78. In 1978, he went with the Scottish athletics team to the Edmonton Commonwealth Games where he won the 4x100 relay Gold Medal alongside David Jenkins, Allan Wells, and Cameron Sharp. He also won the Scottish 100 metres championships in 1981 and 1982. He was runner up in the UK Championships in the 100/200 in 1978 and 1980. In 1980, he competed at the Summer Olympics in Moscow, where he competed for Great Britain in the 100 metres where he did not get past the quarter final, but he anchored the British team in the sprint relay that finished 4th in the final with a then British record of 38.62 seconds. Robert Cameron Sharp (born 3 June 1958) is a Scottish former sprint (running), sprinter. In 1978 he won a gold medal at the 1978 Commonwealth Games, Commonwealth Games in Edmonton in the 4 × 100 m relay alongside David Jenkins (athlete), David Jenkins, Allan Wells, and Drew McMaster. Paul Narracott
Paul Narracott (born 8 October 1959) was the first Australian sportsperson (and only male) to have represented Australia at both a Summer ( Los Angeles, 1984) and Winter Olympics ( Albertville, 1992). Starting his career as a track sprinter, Paul was Australian Junior 100/200 metres champion. In 1977 he won his first of six Australian senior 100 metres championships, and was also 2nd in the 200 metres championships on four occasions.
