Olympiastadion (Berlin)
The Olympiastadion (; en, Olympic Stadium) is a sports stadium at Olympiapark Berlin in Berlin, Germany. It was originally built by Werner March for the 1936 Summer Olympics. During the Olympics, the record attendance was thought to be over 100,000. Today the stadium is part of the Olympiapark Berlin. Since renovations in 2004, the Olympiastadion has a permanent capacity of 74,475 seats and is the largest stadium in Germany for international football matches. The Olympiastadion is a UEFA category four stadium. Besides its use as an athletics stadium, the arena has built a footballing tradition. Since 1963, it has been the home of the Hertha BSC. It hosted three matches in the 1974 FIFA World Cup. It was renovated for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, when it hosted six matches, including the final. Henry Nielsen (athlete)
Holger Henry Nielsen (2 October 1910 – 18 November 1969) was a Danish middle- and long-distance runner. Nielsen held the 3000 m world record from 1934 to 1936 and placed third in men's 10,000 metres at the 1934 European Championships. Career Early in his career Nielsen trained in Finland, which was the leading distance-running country at the time, and learned from Finnish runners. He won his first Danish championship title at 5000 m in 1930. Nielsen broke the 3000 m world record in Stockholm on 25 July 1934; he faced Poland's Janusz Kusociński, who held the previous record of 8:18.8, and defeated him. Nielsen's winning time was 8:18.3; as a world record, it was officially ratified as 8:18.4, since the IAAF's rules required times at the distance to be rounded up to the next fifth of a second. Rolf Hansen (9 October 1906 – 9 May 1980) was a Norwegian long-distance runner who specialized in the 5000 metres. At the 1936 Summer Olympics he finished ninth in the 5000 metres final in 14:48.0 minutes. This was his career best time. He became Norwegian 5000 metres champion in 1935 and 1936, and 10,000 metres champion in 1936. In the 5000 metres he also won the bronze in 1933 and silver in 1937. Józef Noji
Józef Noji (8 September 1909 – 15 February 1943) was a Polish long-distance runner. Noji was one of the best long-distance runners of the Second Polish Republic. At the 1936 Olympics, he finished fifth in the 5000 meter and 14th in the 10000 m events. He also placed fifth over 5000 m at the 1938 European Championships. Noji was a multiple champion of Poland in the 5000, 10000 and cross country running. In 1936 he won the English title in the 6-mile run, and two years later he won the same title in the 3-mile run. He was twice elected to the List of 10 Best Athletes of Poland; in 1936 he was second, in 1937 – tenth. Noji did not fight in the Polish September Campaign, but as early as late 1939 or early 1940, he joined the resistance movement. He was arrested by the Germans on 18 September 1940. After one year of imprisonment at Warsaw's notorious Pawiak prison, he was transported to Auschwitz. Noji was murdered on 15 February 1943, allegedly for trying to smuggle Smugg ...
