The Athletics Nauru (AN), also known as Nauru Athletics Association (NAA), is the governing body for the sport of athletics in Nauru. History AN was founded in 1967 as Nauru Amateur Athletic Association (NAAA) and was affiliated to the IAAF in 1968. Current president is Hansome Adumur elected in January 2013. Athletics is a group of sporting events that involves competitive running, jumping, throwing, and walking. The most common types of athletics competitions are track and field, road running, cross country running, and racewalking. The results of racing events are decided by finishing position (or time, where measured), while the jumps and throws are won by the athlete that achieves the highest or furthest measurement from a series of attempts. Aiwo (rarely Aiue, in earlier times ''Yangor'') is a district in the Pacific country of Nauru. Jarrit Morpak is the city's mayor, elected in 2008. It belongs to Aiwo Constituency. Nauru Olympic Committee (IOC code: NRU) is the National Olympic Committee representing Nauru. It represents and organises the Olympic movement on the island.
