Alexander Stadium
Alexander Stadium is a track and field athletics stadium in Perry Park, Birmingham, England. It hosted the athletics and opening/closing ceremonies of the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Other events held there include the annual British Grand Prix between 2011 and 2019 and in 2022, the Amateur Athletics Association Championships, 1998 Disability World Athletics Championships, and English Schools' Athletics Championships. Original construction began in 1975 and the stadium opened in 1976. It is owned and operated by Birmingham City Council. Birchfield Harriers use it as their home stadium, replacing their former home at Alexander Sports Ground. Shaunae Miller-Uibo (born 15 April 1994) is a Bahamian track and field sprinter who competes in the 200 and 400 metres. She is a two-time Olympic champion after winning the women's 400 metres at the 2016 Rio Olympics and again at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She is the 2022 World champion in the event. At the World Athletics Championships Miller-Uibo won silver medals in the 400 m in 2015 and 2019, and a bronze at the 200 m in 2017 when she also placed fourth at her longer distance. Asimenye Simwaka (born 8 August 1997) is a Malawian athlete and footballer who plays as a forward for the Malawi women's national team. Athletics career Simwaka competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, being the lone Malawian track and field athlete to do so. Beecher was a promising junior but the Queenslander suffered 4 years of injuries before posting a new personal best time over 200 metres of 23.28 in Canberra in 2021. Bethany Mae Dobbin (born 7 June 1994 in Doncaster) is a British sprinter who competes mainly in the 200 metres. She is the Scottish record holder for the 200 metres with a time of 22.50 secs. Gina Bass (born 3 May 1995) is a Gambian athlete competing in sprinting events. She won the bronze medal in the 200 metres at the 2016 African Championships.
