The Women's 100m athletics events for the 2020 Summer Paralympics took place at the Tokyo National Stadium from August 27 to September 4, 2021. A total of 13 events were contested over this distance. Japan National Stadium (2019)
The Japan National Stadium, officially named and formerly known as or , is a multi-purpose stadium used mostly for association football in Kasumigaoka, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. The facility served as the main stadium for the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as the venue for track and field athletics events at the 2020 Summer Olympics and 2020 Summer Paralympics in 2021. Demolition of the old National Stadium was completed in May 2015, allowing for the construction of the new stadium to begin on 11 December 2016. The original plans for the new stadium were scrapped in July 2015 by Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe, who announced a rebid after a public outcry prompted by increased building costs. As a result, the new design was not ready for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, as originally intended. Kym Crosby
Kym Crosby (born February 14, 1993) is an American para- track and field athlete who competed at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in the T13 100 metres and 400 metres. She won the bronze medal in the 100 metres and set a personal best. Early life Crosby was born on February 14, 1993, in Marysville, California to parents Paul and Pauline Crosby. She was born with albinism which left her legally blind. Upon her brother's encouragement, Crosby competed in track and field during her high school years. Career After graduating from River Valley High School, Crosby enrolled in California State University, Chico and competed on their track team. Sophie Hahn
Sophie Megan Hahn, (born 23 January 1997) is a parasport athlete from England competing mainly in T38 sprint events. In 2013, she qualified for the 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships, selected for the T38 100m and 200m. She took the gold in the 100m sprint, setting a new world record. Jiang Fenfen
Jiang Fenfen (born 19 September 1997) is a Chinese Paralympic athlete who competes in sprinting events in international level events. She is a Paralympic gold medalist and three-time medalist at the World Para Athletics Championships. Career Jiang was born in 1997 and she was brought up in Hunan Province. Her uncle was a PE teacher and he encouraged her to get involved with sport in 2014. She was recruited as China looked for para-athletes and in 2016 she competed at her first international event. Jiang represented China at the 2016 Summer Paralympics; in the women's 4 × 100 metres relay T35-T38 event she won the gold medal together with Wen Xiaoyan, Chen Junfei and Li Yingli. Jaleen Roberts (born November 19, 1998) is an American track and field athlete. Born with cerebral palsy, she has won medals for Team USA at the 2017 World Para Athletics Championships, 2019 Parapan American Games, and 2019 World Para Athletics Championships. Early life and education Roberts was born on November 19, 1998, in Tacoma, Washington. Although she was born with cerebral palsy, Roberts competed in soccer, wrestling, gymnastics and track growing up. While attending Mill Creek Middle School and Kent-Meridian High School, Roberts competed in wrestling, gymnastics, basketball and track. She decided to stick with wrestling and track in high school, where she qualified for the state wrestling tournament in both her junior and senior years. Wen Xiaoyan
Wen Xiaoyan (born 12 October 1997) is a Chinese Paralympic athlete. She represented China at the 2016 Summer Paralympics and she won two gold medals and one silver medal. She also won three gold medals at the 2020 Summer Paralympics held in Tokyo, Japan. Career Wen won the gold medal in the women's long jump T37 event and the silver medal in the women's 400 metres T37 event. Danielle Aitchison
Danielle Aitchison (born 16 August 2001) is a New Zealand para-athlete who is representing her country at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. She competes in the 100 metres and 200 metres in international events. Biography Aitchison was born in Morrinsville in 2001 and grew up in Patetonga in the Hauraki District. She attended Kaihere School. Aitchison was born with severe jaundice, cerebral palsy and 80-90% hearing loss. She has two uncommon types of cerebral palsy: athetoid and ataxia. She has cochlear implants in both ears. While growing up Aitchison participated in ballet, netball and hockey. Elena Sviridova
Elena Sviridova (née Ivanova; born 2 April 1988) is a Paralympian athlete from Russia competing mainly in category T36 sprint events. Sviridova competed at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, where she won three gold medals, in the 100m and 200m sprint, and the women's T35–38 100m sprint relay. As well as her Paralympic success Sviridova has been dominant in her field during the World Championships winning gold in both the 100m and 200m sprints at the 2011 and 2015 Games. Maria Lyle
Maria Lyle (born 14 February 2000) is a parasport athlete from Scotland competing mainly in T35 sprint events. At the age of 14 she set a world record in the 200m sprint, a record she has broken on several occasions. In 2014, she qualified for the IPC Athletics European Championships in Swansea and won gold in both the 100m and 200m T35. Personal history Lyle was born in Dunbar, Scotland, in 2000 to Raymond and Susan Lyle. She has one younger sister. She has spastic dipelgic cerebral palsy, attributed to her mother contracting shingles while pregnant with her. Isis Holt (born 3 July 2001) is an Australian Paralympic athlete competing in T35 sprint events. She is affected by the condition cerebral palsy. Holt won gold medals in the 100 m and 200 m at the 2015 and 2017 World Para Athletics Championships.
