Athletics At The 2019 Pan American Games – Men's Pole Vault
The men's pole vault competition of the athletics events at the 2019 Pan American Games took place on the 10 of August at the 2019 Pan American Games Athletics Stadium. The defending Pan American Games champion is Shawnacy Barber from Canada. Summary The medals were decided at 5.61m, only three cleared it. Among the eliminated was Olympic champion Thiago Braz. Clayton Fritsch couldn't get over 5.71m and Augusto Dutra got over it on his second attempt, while Chris Nilsen still had a perfect round going. Dutra passed the next height, daring Nilsen to get over it. Nilsen was well over the bar on his attempts but peaking well behind the bar, he knocked it off on his first two attempts. On his final attempt at he was still too close to the bar, but managed to snake over it. When he landed with the bar still on its pegs, he celebrated. Both made attempts at 5.81m. Natán Rivera
Natán Armando Rivera Alas (born 12 December 1998) is a Salvadoran athlete specialising in the pole vault. Still a youth athlete, he won the gold medal at the 2015 NACAC Championships although in rather unusual circumstances. His rivals having much better personal bests than Rivera, who managed to jump 4.70 meters, entered the competition much higher but none of them actually cleared the bar. This left him as the sole athlete to record a valid jump and the gold medalist. Germán Pablo Chiaraviglio Ermácora (born 16 April 1987 in Santa Fe) is an Argentine pole vaulter. Biography His personal best of 5.71 metres was achieved at the World Junior Championships in Beijing on August 19, 2006, when he beat the old championship record (CR) of István Bagyula from 1988, and the Argentine senior record. He also holds the South American indoors record, with 5.52 metres, and is the only Argentine athlete to conquer a gold medal in any World Championship at any category.
