Carrara Stadium
Carrara Stadium (known commercially as Metricon Stadium) is a stadium on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, located in the suburb of Carrara. The stadium is primarily used for Australian rules football, serving as the home ground of the Gold Coast Suns, who compete in the Australian Football League. In addition, the venue is used occasionally for cricket, including Big Bash League matches. Carrara Stadium received substantial redevelopment work prior to the entry of the Brisbane Bears to the VFL/AFL in 1987, but following the Bears relocation to the Gabba in 1993, it was used for other sports including rugby league, rugby union and even baseball. Isis Holt
Isis Holt (born 3 July 2001) is an Australian Paralympic athlete competing in T35 sprint events. She is affected by the condition cerebral palsy. Holt won gold medals in the 100 m and 200 m at the 2015 and 2017 World Para Athletics Championships. At the 2016 Rio Paralympics, she won two silver medals and a bronze medal and 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, two silver medals . Maria Lyle
Maria Lyle (born 14 February 2000) is a parasport athlete from Scotland competing mainly in T35 sprint events. At the age of 14 she set a world record in the 200m sprint, a record she has broken on several occasions. In 2014, she qualified for the IPC Athletics European Championships in Swansea and won gold in both the 100m and 200m T35. Personal history Lyle was born in Dunbar, Scotland, in 2000 to Raymond and Susan Lyle. She has one younger sister. She has spastic dipelgic cerebral palsy, attributed to her mother contracting shingles while pregnant with her. Lyle is a former pupil of Dunbar Grammar School, having also attended Oaklands College in Hertfordshire, graduating from the elite Oaklands Wolves Sports Academy in 2017. Brianna Coop
Brianna Coop (born 19 February 1998) is a Paralympic athlete from Australia competing in T35 sprint events. She represented Australia at the 2016 Rio Paralympics in athletics. Personal Coop was born on 19 February 1998 in Cairns, Queensland. She was diagnosed with cerebral palsy in 2006. She attended Gordonvale State School in Gordonvale, Queensland. While there in 2013, she qualified for the national junior disability championships for the 100m, 200m, and discus throwing. Coop won bronze in the 100m and 200m, finishing fourth in the discus as well. She later attended Ryan Catholic College in Townsville, Queensland. Career Coop competes in the T35 classification of athletics. 2018 Commonwealth Games
The 2018 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXI Commonwealth Games and also known as Gold Coast 2018, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth that were held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, between 4 and 15 April 2018. It was the fifth time Australia had hosted the Commonwealth Games and the first time a major multi-sport had an equal number of events for male and female athletes. 4,426 athletes including 300 para-athletes from 71 Commonwealth Games Associations took part in the event. Athletics was one of ten core sports that appeared at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast. As a founding sport, athletics has appeared consistently since its introduction at the 1911 Inter-Empire Games; the recognized precursor to the Commonwealth Games. The competition took place between Sunday 8–15 April 2018 at the Carrara Stadium. The programme featured an expanded event set for para-athletes with a total of six men's and six women's events, re presenting doubling of the number para-events at the previous games. T35 (classification)
T35 (T for ''track'') is a disability sport classification for disability athletics' running competitions. It includes people who have coordination impairments such as hypertonia, ataxia and athetosis. This includes people with cerebral palsy. The classification is used at the Paralympic Games. The corresponding F35 classification (F for ''(in)Field'') includes club and discus throw, shot put, and javelin. Definition This classification is for disability athletics. Carly Salmon
Carly Salmon (born 9 July 1999) is an Australian Paralympic athlete who competes in long jump and the 100 metre and 200 metre sprints. Personal Salmon was born 9 July 1999 in Wagga Wagga. A stroke at birth left her with cerebral palsy that restricts movement on the left side of her body. Salmon attended Mater Dei Catholic College, which is situated in her hometown of Wagga Wagga. Results In 2013, Salmon was the youngest member of the Australian team when she competed in the IPC World Championships in Lyon, France where she won bronze in the 200 m T35 final. Salmon was also in the 100 metre final, where she finished 5th with an Oceania record-breaking time of 16.82.
