York Lions Stadium
York Lions Stadium is an outdoor sports stadium on the Keele Campus of Toronto's York University in the former city of North York. It is home to the York Lions, the varsity teams of York University, the Toronto Arrows of Major League Rugby and York United of the Canadian Premier League. The facility was primarily built for the 2015 Pan American and Parapan American Games, where it hosted track and field events and the opening ceremony. In 2021, the stadium's running track was removed to expand the playing surface used for football and soccer. History Initial plans had a multi-purpose athletics and soccer stadium to be built somewhere in the vicinity of Hamilton, Ontario; however, the final plans separated the soccer and athletics venues. Michelle Stilwell
Michelle Stilwell (''nee'' Bauknecht; born July 4, 1974) is a Canadian wheelchair racer and politician. She is the only female Paralympic athlete to win gold medals in two separate summer sport events. Stilwell was elected to the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia as a BC Liberal candidate for Parksville-Qualicum in the 2013 provincial election. She represented Canada at the 2000 Summer Paralympics, 2008 Summer Paralympics, and 2012 Summer Paralympics. Early life and education Stilwell was born on July 4, 1974, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. While attending River East Collegiate, she broke her neck from a fall and became an incomplete quadriplegic. After the accident, she competed in wheelchair basketball, through which she met her husband Mark at the 1996 National Championships in Montreal. Kerry David Morgan (born 31 October 1988) is a Welsh people, Welsh Association football, footballer who plays as an attacking winger for Merthyr Town F.C. (2010), Merthyr Town. Cassie Mitchell
Cassie Mitchell (born June 8, 1981) is an American engineer and Paralympic cyclist and track and field athlete. Early life Mitchell was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and graduated from high school in Warner in 1999 as valedictorian of her class; shortly thereafter, she developed neuromyelitis optica, which left her paralyzed from the chest down with limited movement of her arms and hands and with permanent double vision. In 2004, she graduated from Oklahoma State University with a BS degree in chemical engineering. She later earned a PhD in biomedical engineering from both Emory and Georgia Tech universities.
