Guangdong Olympic Stadium
The Guangdong Olympic Centre Stadium or officially Aoti Main Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Guangzhou, People's Republic of China. Currently used mostly for football matches, the stadium was opened in 2001. It has a capacity of 80,012, making it the largest stadium in the country by seating capacity. History Guangdong Olympic Stadium broke ground on 31 December 1998 at the former site of Huangcun Airport. It opened to the public for the Ninth National Games of China in 2001. It was originally planned to help host the 2008 Summer Olympics until a decision was made to construct the National Stadium in Beijing. The original design for the Guangdong Olympic Stadium was announced in 1999. Taking Guangzhou's nickname, the ''Flower City'', the American architectural firm of Ellerbe Becket designed Guangdong Olympic Stadium's sunscreen roof to resemble layers of petals on a flower. Sergey Sergeyevich Zasimovich (russian: Серге́й Серге́евич Засимович; born 11 March 1986) is a Kazakhstani high jumper. Zasimovich was born in Karagandinskaya. As a junior, he finished seventh at the 2004 Asian Junior Championships and twelfth at the 2005 Asian Championships, and won the gold medal at the 2005 Asian Indoor Games. In 2006 he finished fifth at the Asian Indoor Championships, but won the silver medal at the Asian Games. He furthermore won a silver at the 2007 Asian Indoor Games and the gold medal at the 2008 Asian Indoor Championships. Majd Eddin Ghazal ( ar, مجد الدين غزال; born 21 April 1987) is a Syrian high jumper. He utilizes the Fosbury Flop style, jumping off his left leg.
