Centennial Olympic Stadium
Centennial Olympic Stadium was the 85,000-seat main stadium of the 1996 Summer Olympics and Paralympics in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Construction of the stadium began in 1993, and it was complete and ready for the opening ceremony in July 1996, where it hosted track and field events and the closing ceremony. After the Olympics and Paralympics, it was reconstructed into the baseball-specific Turner Field, used by the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball for 20 seasons (1997–2016). After the Braves departed for Truist Park, the facility was purchased by Georgia State University, which rebuilt the stadium a second time as Center Parc Stadium, designed for American football. Terry McHugh (born 22 August 1963) is a retired Irish track and field athlete who competed in the javelin throw. His personal best of 82.75 m, set in 2000, is the Irish record. He won twenty-one consecutive Irish Championships from 1984 to 2004. Career During his career, McHugh finished tenth at the 1993 World Championships and seventh at the 1994 European Championships. Edgar Andres Baumann Dure (born 16 April 1970 in San Lorenzo) is a Paraguayan former Javelin Thrower, current Javelin Coach, Sports Promoter and Businessperson. He is of German descent. Pål Arne Fagernes (8 June 1974 – 4 August 2003) was a Norwegian javelin thrower. He represented Asker SK and IK Tjalve during his active career. As a junior, Fagernes competed on top national level in cycling, athletics, and cross country skiing, before deciding to focus on javelin. He made his international athletics debut at the 1994 European Cup, and competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics, 1997 World Championships and 1998 European Championships without reaching the final rounds.
