4 × 100 Metres Relay
The 4 × 100 metres relay or sprint relay is an athletics track event run in lanes over one lap of the track with four runners completing 100 metres each. The first runners must begin in the same stagger as for the individual 400 m race. Each runner carries a relay baton. Before 2018, the baton had to be passed within a 20 m changeover box, preceded by a 10-metre acceleration zone. With a rule change effective November 1, 2017, that zone was modified to include the acceleration zone as part of the passing zone, making the entire zone 30 metres in length. The outgoing runner cannot touch the baton until it has entered the zone, and the incoming runner cannot touch it after it has left the zone. The zone is usually marked in yellow, frequently using lines, triangles or chevrons. While the rule book specifies the exact positioning of the marks, the colours and style are only "recommended". Shane Naylor
Shane Anthony Naylor (born 3 November 1967) is an Australian former athlete who competed in sprinting events during the 1980s and 1990s. Post athletics, he has been involved in powerlifting and is a masters world record holder. Biography Naylor grew up in the Victorian town of Tatura near Shepparton and has a younger sister Lee who was also a notable sprinter. He was an under-18 national champion in the 100 metres. A four-time national 100 metres champion, Naylor won his first title in 1987 as a 19-year old. In 1992 he finished sixth in the final of the IAAF World Cup and only narrowly missed the qualifying standard that year for the Olympics in Barcelona. He represented Australia at two Commonwealth Games, including in 1994 when he claimed a silver medal as part of the 4x100 metres relay team. Gary Henley-Smith is a New Zealanders, New Zealand sprint (running), sprinter and professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s. Mark Davidson (born 15 November 1968) is a Scottish former sprinter and hurdling athlete who specialised in the 400m hurdles. As of 2017, he is the President of his local athletics club, Aberdeen AAC. Under the stewardship of long-term coach Dr Robert Masson, Davidson set personal best times of 46.9 in the 400m and 50.79 in the 400m H in 1989. Jamie Henderson (athlete)
James Alexander Henderson (born 28 March 1969) is a Scottish former athlete who competed as a sprinter. A former Edinburgh Academy pupil, Henderson was coached by Bob Inglis. He won the UK Athletics Championships 100 metres title in 1986 and became the youngest ever champion for that event. As a teenager he had further success with a third-place finish in the 100 metres at the 1986 World Junior Championships in Athens and was 100 metres champion at the 1987 European Junior Championships, running a personal best of 10.21 seconds for the latter. Elliot John Bunney (born 11 December 1966 in Edinburgh, Midlothian) is a Scottish former athlete who competed mainly in the 100 metres. He competed for Scotland at the 1986, 1990, 1994 and 1998 Commonwealth Games, winning a bronze medal in the sprint relay team competition in 1986. Peter Steven Ogilvie (born May 2, 1972) is a retired Canadian sprinter who competed primarily in the 200 metres. Growing up in Burnaby, British Columbia, Peter represented Canada at the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics, as well as, two outdoor (1991 & 1995), one indoor IAAF World Championships (1993), one Pan American Games (1991) and two Commonwealth Games (1990 & 1994). Cyprian Enweani (born March 19, 1964, in Copenhagen, Denmark) is a Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, resident and 1989 inductee into the Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame for his career as sprinter. Michael Dwyer (born 10 October 1962) is a Canadian former Sport of athletics, athlete who competed in Sprint (running), sprint events. Born in Jamaica, Dwyer came to Canada as a teenager in 1976. Dwyer had a personal best time in the 200m of 20.83 and won a bronze medal for the 200m at the 1985 Pacific Conference Games. He was sixth in the same event at the 1986 Commonwealth Games.
