Olympic Stadium (Seoul)
The Seoul Olympic Stadium (), also known as Jamsil Olympic Stadium (formerly romanised as ''Chamshil''), is a multi-purpose stadium in Seoul, South Korea. It is the main stadium built for the 1988 Summer Olympics and the 1986 Asian Games, 10th Asian Games in 1986. It is the centrepiece of the Seoul Sports Complex in the Songpa District, in the southeast of the city south of the Han River (Korea), Han River. It is the largest stadium in South Korea. Design and construction This multi-purpose stadium was designed by Kim Swoo-geun. The lines of the stadium's profile imitate the elegant curves of a Korean Joseon Dynasty porcelain vase. A heptathlon is a track and field combined events contest made up of seven events. Agata Jadwiga Karczmarek (née Jaroszek; 29 November 1963 – 18 July 2016) was a Polish gymnast and long jumper. Her most successful contest was in 1997 when she won a bronze medal at the 1997 IAAF World Indoor Championships. Her personal best jump was 6.97m, set in Lublin 1988. It is still unbeaten national record. She retired after the 2000 season. Fiona May Iapichino (born 12 December 1969 in Slough, England) is a retired track and field athlete who competed for the United Kingdom and later Italy in the long jump. She won the World Championships twice and two Olympic silver medals. Her personal best jump was 7.11 metres, which was her silver medal result at the 1998 European Championships. Biography She also competed briefly in triple jump, and her career best of 14.65 metres from 1998 was good enough to place fifth in the world that season. May originally competed for Great Britain, but married Gianni Iapichino and became an Italian citizen in 1994.
