Yvette Williams
Dame Yvette Winifred Corlett (née Williams; 25 April 1929 – 13 April 2019) was a New Zealand track-and-field athlete who was the first woman from her country to win an Olympic gold medal and to hold the world record in the women's long jump. Williams was named "Athlete of the Century" on the 100th anniversary of Athletics New Zealand, in 1987. Early life Williams was born on 25 April 1929 in Dunedin. She grew up there and attended Otago Girls' High School. While at high school, Williams played several sports, making the top netball team and playing for Otago and the South Island. Williams also represented Otago, the South Island and New Zealand (1950, 1953–55) in basketball. Athletics career Williams joined the Otago Athletic Club in early 1947, mainly for social reasons. Wilhelmina Lust
Wilhelmina Maria "Willy" "Wil" Lust (later Postma, born 19 June 1932) is a retired Dutch track-and-field athlete. She won a silver medal in the long jump at the 1950 European Athletics Championships. Two years later she competed at the 1952 Summer Olympics, in the 80 m hurdles, long jump and 4 × 100 m relay; she finished in fifth place in the long jump and in sixth place in the relay. She was also successful in the pentathlon, holding national records and winning two national titles in 1950 and 1951. Yvonne Chabot-Curtet
Yvonne Alice Curtet (née Chabot; born 28 May 1920) is a French former athlete, who specialized in the long jump. She was born in Cannes. Curtet took eighth place in the long jump during the 1948 London Olympics with a leap of 5.35 m. In qualifying for the final, she established the first Olympic record for women with a jump of 5.64 m. She also competed at the 1950 European Athletics Championships and placed fourth at that competition. Her second Olympic appearance resulted in a 23rd-place finish at the 1952 Summer Olympics. Curtet won three French national long jump titles (1945, 1946 and 1949) and two titles in the pentathlon (1946 and 1949). She improved three times the French record in the long jump, bringing it to 5.64 m and 5.67 m in 1948, then 5.71 m in 1949. Elżbieta Maria Krzesińska (née Duńska; November 11, 1934 – December 29, 2015) was a track and field athlete from Poland, who competed in the long jump. Born in Warsaw, she competed for her native country at the 1956 Summer Olympics held in Melbourne, Australia where she won the gold medal in the Women's Long Jump. She returned to the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome but failed to defend her title, finishing second behind Soviet Vera Krepkina.
