At Yankee Stadium
''At Yankee Stadium'' is the sixth studio album from NRBQ (New Rhythm and Blues Quartet), released in 1978 on Mercury Records. In keeping with the band's sense of humor, the album's title is a joke; the album credits read "Recorded at Bearsville Studios, November 1977 (not at Yankee Stadium)". The packaging includes photographs of the band members in an otherwise empty Yankee Stadium; these were taken as a birthday treat for bass player and founding band member Joey Spampinato, when his bandmates arranged a private visit to the ballpark. Spampinato, a Bronx native, is a lifelong Yankees fan. The album was released in two versions. Early copies included the song "Ridin' In My Car", which had been previously released on ''All Hopped Up,'' an album N.R.B.Q. released on their own record label (Red Rooster Records) the previous year. Terry Adams (musician)
Terry Adams (born August 14, 1948) is an American pianist/composer and a founding member of the musical group NRBQ (New Rhythm and Blues Quintet/Quartet), known for decades of extensive touring, energetic and humorous live shows, and wide-ranging musical repertoire, including rock, blues, country, pop, and jazz. NRBQ ceased performing in 2004, leading Adams to form the Terry Adams Rock and Roll Quartet in 2007. In March 2011, Adams announced that he was changing the name of the band to NRBQ. A new NRBQ CD, ''Keep This Love Goin'', heralded the move. Adams was born in Louisville, Kentucky, where he met fellow resident Steve Ferguson, a singer and guitarist who also became a charter member of NRBQ. "Shake, Rattle and Roll" is a song, written in 1954 by Jesse Stone (usually credited as Charles Calhoun, his songwriting name). The original recording by Big Joe Turner is ranked number 127 on the ''Rolling Stone'' magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Al Anderson (NRBQ)
Alan Gordon Anderson (born July 26, 1947) is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. In the 1960s, Anderson was the frontman of the band The Wildweeds, which had success with the song "No Good To Cry", which he wrote. Between 1971 and the early 1990s, he was the lead guitarist in the rock band NRBQ, also releasing several solo albums. He also played electric guitar on Jonathan Edwards's 1973 album '' Have a Good Time for Me''. In the 1990s, Anderson shifted his focus to country music, writing hit songs for such artists as Carlene Carter, Vince Gill, Diamond Rio and Trisha Yearwood, as well as Tim McGraw's number 1 hit "The Cowboy in Me" and several album cuts. Sherlie Matthews (born November 10, 1934) is an American singer, songwriter and former Motown Records producer, best known as a backing vocalist for pop, R&B and rock groups from the mid-1960s to the present time. Early life Matthews started performing as a soloist in church at the age of two. Then at age four, she began harmonizing. She sang alto parts in vocal duets with her two-year-old sister. Her grandmother, who was an accomplished musician/composer, recognized her musical talents and was her first piano/voice teacher and mentor. Johnny Cash
John R. Cash (born J. R. Cash; February 26, 1932 – September 12, 2003) was an American country singer-songwriter. "Get Rhythm" is a song written and recorded by American singer-songwriter and musician Johnny Cash. It was originally released as the B-side to the single release "I Walk the Line" in 1956 on Sun 241. It was re-released with overdubbed "live" effects in September 1969 as an A-side single and reached number 60 on the Billboard Pop chart. Red Rooster Records
Red Rooster Records is the record label founded by the band NRBQ in 1972 after being dropped by Columbia Records after lack of chart performance for their albums '' NRBQ'' and ''Boppin' the Blues''. It was distributed by Rounder Records from 1972 to 1989, when the band signed on Virgin Records for their album ''Wild Weekend''. The label folded into Rounder in 1990. This was the label that NRBQ would go back to when they had an unsuccessful major label era, like the Mercury Records era (1976) and the Bearsville Records era (1983). NRBQ
NRBQ is an American rock band founded by Terry Adams (piano), Steve Ferguson (guitar) and Joey Spampinato (bass). Originally the "New Rhythm and Blues Quintet", the group was formed around 1965. Adams disbanded it for a time, and the group re-formed in 1967. Today's quartet is known for its live performances, containing a high degree of spontaneity and levity, and blending rock, pop, jazz, blues and Tin Pan Alley styles. Joey Spampinato
Joseph Nicholas Spampinato (born August 16, 1948) is a multi-instrumentalist and was a founding member and bass player of NRBQ. He was also one of the band's lead singers and chief songwriters. Before NRBQ he played in several bands, including The Seven of Us, which in 1967 while in Miami, Florida, met another band, The Mersey-Beats USA. The bands merged to form NRBQ. On the group's first two albums, ''NRBQ'' (Columbia, 1969) and ''Boppin' the Blues'' (With Carl Perkins, Columbia, 1970) Spampinato is credited as "Jody St. Nicholas".
