Asteras Exarchion
Asteras Exarchion, alternatively called Asteras Exarchia ( Greek: Αστέρας Εξαρχείων), is a Greek sports club from Exarcheia, Athens, founded in 1928, but competing under its current name from 1967. The club has three active sports sections: Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball and men's football sections. The women's basketball team compete in the top division the A1 Ethniki, and the men's football team compete in the amateur Athens Football Clubs Association Division B. The club colours are black and white. History The history of the current club is complex due to the number of mergers and name changes in its history. Exarchia
Exarcheia ( ) is a community in central Athens, Greece close to the historical building of the National Technical University of Athens. Exarcheia took its name from a 19th century businessman named Exarchos (Greek: Έξαρχος) who opened a large general store there. Exarcheia is bordered on the east by Kolonaki and is framed by Patission Avenue, Patission Street, Panepistimiou Street and Alexandras Avenue. Exarcheia is notorious for being Athens' historical core of radical political and intellectual activism. Exarcheia is often considered the anarchist quarter of Athens, known for its radical democracy. Nikos Alefantos
Nikos Alefantos ( el, Νίκος Αλέφαντος, 3 January 1939 – 23 June 2020) was a Greek professional footballer and football coach. Career Alefantos managed several clubs in the Greek Super League, including Olympiacos during 2004. He also had brief spells leading AEL in 1975 and 1990. Alefantos gained notoriety for his unusually short tenure as the manager of Fostiras in 2002. He was appointed manager of the club, replacing Vlachos in September 2002. One of Fostira's players, Dimitrios Moutas, immediately refused to train with Alefantos, and then Alefantos resigned later that day after failed contract negotiations. Eventually Alefantos appeared in ART channel of Greece, participating in a sport TV program called "Dokari Kai mesa" presented by Giannis Karatzaferis.
