Association Of California Symphony Orchestras
The Association of California Symphony Orchestras (ACSO) is a non-profit trade association based in Los Angeles. It was founded in 1969 by a small group of orchestra managers, and currently serves over 150 organizations and their 2,000 board and staff members. ACSO's members are professional, academic, youth, and community-based orchestras, choruses, and festivals in California and the western region. The members of its board of directors are leaders from the classical music community throughout the state of California and western region. ACSO's headquarters are in Los Angeles with additional staff in Sacramento. ACSO's first executive director was Kris Sinclair, who retired after 31 years. Mitch Menchaca succeeded Sinclair in 2016, and Sarah Weber is the current executive director. Los Angeles Children's Chorus
Los Angeles Children's Chorus (LACC) is a children's choral youth organization based in Los Angeles. LACC has appeared in more than 300 performances with such organizations as the Los Angeles Opera, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Master Chorale, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. Since its founding in 1986, LACC has educated more than 2,200 young singers. It includes over 400 choristers divided into seven ensembles and two introductory programs, from more than 60 communities across the greater Los Angeles area. Peninsula Symphony
The Peninsula Symphony is an American symphony orchestra, based in the San Francisco Peninsula, California. The orchestra consists of over 90 community musicians. In 1995, the Peninsula Symphony was featured in a PBS broadcast. Since its beginning, the symphony has performed four pairs of concerts in October, January, March, and May. It also performs two free concerts each year, an outdoor summer concert, and a spring family concert. The symphony also hosts competitions, presents awards for young artists, and organizes outreach programs in local schools, known as ''Bridges to Music''. Pacific Chorale, founded in 1968, is a professional chorus performing in Costa Mesa, California at the Renée and Henry Segerstom Concert Hall at Segerstrom Center for the Arts (formerly the Orange County Performing Arts Center). Artistic director Pacific Chorale was founded as the Irvine Community Chorus and then the Irvine Master Chorale under the direction of Maurice Allard. John Alexander became the Chorale's music director in 1972. The Ojai Music Festival is an annual classical music festival in the United States. The New West Symphony is a regional professional symphony orchestra serving the Los Angeles metropolitan area. It was founded in 1995. The orchestra's players are professional musicians drawn from the rich pool of classical musicians in the Los Angeles region, many of whom work as session players for film, television and audio recording in the entertainment industry, and play for other area orchestras as well. The New Century Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1992 by cellist, Miriam Perkoff, and violist, Wieslaw Pogorzelski. The goal of the founders was to present classical music in a fresh and unique way in the San Francisco Bay Area. Music in the Mountains (MiTM) is an annual summer classical music festival located in Durango, with additional performances in other regional towns. Performances are held from early July through early August and feature performances by both professional and student artists.
