Association For Research In Personality
The Association for Research in Personality (abbreviated ARP) is an American learned society dedicated to advancing research into personality. Its mission statement does not mention specific disciplines such as social psychology or policy research, instead simply emphasizing the scientific study of personality. It was established in 2001, with David Watson as the founding president. It originally held an annual preconference before the Society for Personality and Social Psychology's annual conference. In 2009, the ARP began holding its own annual conference. Presidents The current president of the ARP is Wiebke Bleidorn a professor of psychology at the University of Zurich. Society For Personality And Social Psychology
The Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP) is an academic society for personality and social psychologists focused on promoting scientific research that explores how people think, behave and interact. It is the largest organization of social psychologists and personality psychologists in the world. SPSP was founded in 1974 and it manages the activities of Division 8 of the American Psychological Association. Objectives Convention Each year, SPSP hosts a convention that attracts thousands of attendees. Attendees include students and new and seasoned psychologists. Walter Mischel
Walter Mischel (; February 22, 1930 – September 12, 2018) was an Austrian-born American psychologist specializing in personality theory and social psychology. He was the Robert Johnston Niven Professor of Humane Letters in the Department of Psychology at Columbia University. A ''Review of General Psychology'' survey, published in 2002, ranked Mischel as the 25th most cited psychologist of the 20th century. Early life Mischel was born on February 22, 1930 in Vienna, Austria, to Salomon Mischel and the former Lola Leah Schreck. He was the brother of Theodore Mischel, who became an American philosopher. Paul Costa Jr. is an American psychologist associated with the Five Factor Model. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1970. Author of over 300 academic articles, several books, he is perhaps best known for the Revised NEO Personality Inventory, or NEO PI-R, a psychological personality inventory; a 240-item measure of the Five Factor Model: Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism, and Openness to Experience. William Revelle
William Roger Revelle (born c. 1944) is a psychology professor at Northwestern University working in personality psychology. Revelle studies the biological basis of personality and motivation, psychometric theory, the structure of daily mood, and models of attention and memory. Early life and education Revelle was raised in La Jolla, California. His father, Roger Revelle, was an early theorist in global warming. Revelle graduated from Pomona College in 1965, abandoning a mathematics major in favor of psychology. He spent two years in Sarawak, Malaysia, as a volunteer in the Peace Corps before earning his PhD in psychology from the University of Michigan in 1973. David C. Funder (Ph.D., Stanford University 1979) is a personality psychologist and psychology professor in the Psychology department at the University of California, Riverside. He has written a number of important textbooks and research articles pertaining to the field of personality psychology. He used to be a past editor of the ''Journal of Research in Personality'', as well as being a former secondary editor of the ''Journal of Personality and Social Psychology''. Dan P. McAdams (born February 7, 1954) is personality psychologist and the Henry Wade Rogers Professor in the Department of Psychology at Northwestern University. He was raised in Gary, Indiana, where he attended nearby Valparaiso University. In 1979 he was awarded a Ph.D. from the Harvard Department of Social Relations.
