Association For Financial Markets In Europe
The Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME) is an industry advocacy organization that represents wholesale market participants in Europe, including the European Union and the United Kingdom. It was formed in 2009 by the merger of the London Investment Banking Association and the European activities of the U.S.-based Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association. At the same time, the Global Financial Markets Association was created to represent the securities and financial markets industry at the international level. AFME's policy positions have been frequently mentioned in media coverage on financial services policy in the European Union and United Kingdom. European Banking Authority
The European Banking Authority (EBA) is a regulatory agency of the European Union headquartered in Paris. Its activities include conducting stress tests on European banks to increase transparency in the European financial system and identifying weaknesses in banks' capital structures. The EBA has the power to overrule national regulators if they fail to properly regulate their banks. The EBA is able to prevent regulatory arbitrage and should allow banks to compete fairly throughout the EU. Eurofi
Eurofi is a Paris-based nonprofit association that organizes non-public gatherings on European economic and financial policy. Eurofi meetings have become a regular venue for exchange between EU economic and financial policymakers and senior financial sector executives. Simon Lewis (public Relations Officer)
Simon David Lewis OBE (born 8 May 1959) is the former chief executive of the Association for Financial Markets in Europe. He was formerly Director of Communications for the former Labour Prime Minister Gordon Brown. He previously held this position for the Queen, Vodafone, and Centrica. He attended Whitefield School before studying PPE at Brasenose College, Oxford. Sir Jonathan Stephen Cunliffe, CB (born 2 June 1953) is a senior British civil servant, currently serving as Deputy Governor of the Bank of England for Financial Stability. Biography Cunliffe studied at Manchester University. He lectured at the University of Western Ontario, before joining the UK Department of the Environment and Transport in 1980. Mairead McGuinness
Mairead McGuinness (born 13 June 1959) is an Irish politician serving as the European Commissioner for Financial Stability, Financial Services and the Capital Markets Union since October 2020. A member of Fine Gael, she previously served as First Vice-President of the European Parliament from 2017 to 2020. She served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for East from 2004 to 2014 and for Midlands–North-West from 2014 to 2020, making her Ireland's longest serving MEP.
