Colorado River Storage Project
The Colorado River Storage Project is a United States Bureau of Reclamation project designed to oversee the development of the upper Colorado River basin. The project provides hydroelectric power, flood control and water storage for participating states along the upper portion of the Colorado River and its major tributaries. Since its inception in 1956, the project has grown to include the participation of several related water management projects throughout the river's basin. The project's original scope, and primary focus, are the upper Colorado River itself, the Green River, the San Juan River, and the Gunnison River. Participating states are Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming. Crown London Aspinalls (or Aspinall's) is a private gambling Gentlemen's club, club, established by John Aspinall (zoo owner), John Aspinall in London since the 1960s. Crown London Aspinalls is currently at 27–28 Curzon Street, Mayfair, London. History Club founder John Aspinall, known as "Aspers" to his friends, was a conservationist and the stepson of Sir George Francis Osborne, 16th Baronet, Sir George Osborne. He was a breeder of wild animals and funded his zoos, to a large extent, from house winnings. In the 1960s, the building was known as the White Elephant Club, a dining destination. Later in 1992, Aspinall turned the property in to a casino named Aspinall's. He commissioned a bust of Richard Bingham, 7th Earl of Lucan, Lord Lucan, a close friend of Aspinall who disappeared in November 1974, after the murder of Sandra Rivett, the nanny of Lucan's children. Lightbown Aspinall is an England, English wallpaper manufacturing company founded in 1854 at Pendleton, Greater Manchester, Pendleton in Greater Manchester,''Bredbury and Romiley Urban District : The Official Guide'', 1971, Home Publishing (Northern), Carshalton, 92 pages by Henry Lightbown (1819–99), who had worked for ''Potter and Company''. By 1847, he was in business with his brother-in-law William Aspinall and Doctor Graham, a partner in Potter’s, as wallpaper merchants and block printers in Manchester. The company became part of the newly formed ''Wall Paper Manufacturers'' in 1899. The company moved to a new factory, the Hayfield Mills on Brookfield Avenue, Bredbury, in 1929, where they became one of the largest producers of cheap machine-printed wallpapers in 20th century Britain, producing ''Crown'' and ''Scene'' wallpapers and ''Crown Vinyl'' wall covering, and employing 450 people. The Aspinall Foundation
The Aspinall Foundation (formerly The John Aspinall Foundation) is a British charity (Registered Charity 326567) which works to promote wildlife conservation. It was set up by casino owner John Aspinall in 1984 and runs the two zoos he established, Port Lympne Wild Animal Park and Howletts Wild Animal Park in Kent, England. It also runs conservation projects overseas to protect endangered species and return captive animals back to the wild. The charity is now run by Damian Aspinall, son of the founder. In addition to running the zoos, which breed rare and endangered animals, the Foundation campaigns on wildlife issues, such as opposing Chinese attempts to relax the rules governing the trade in products made from tigers. As of 2002, the twin zoos were home to 14 hybrid, Siberian and Sumatran tigers. L&YR Class 2 (Aspinall)
The L&YR Class 2 (Aspinall) was a class of 4-4-0 steam locomotives of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway. Design and construction When Aspinall joined the L&YR in 1886 he was able to demonstrate to board needed 1,114 locomotives to operate the required 22¼ million annual mileage and was thus 151 short. For express passenger engines Aspinall chose to stick with developing the L&YR Barton Wright 4-4-0 with driving wheels. To cope with the locomotive shortage and new route to Liverpool the L&YR ordered a further batch of 16 from Vulcan Foundry who had built the most recent order for 20. Quoted at £1,830 they were delivered in 1887 and incorporated longer wheelbase, increased boiler pressure, larger cylinders and bogie wheels of just over 3 ft. Aspinall had inspirations to increase the size of the driving wheels to with the objective achieve to speed advantages demonstrated by the GNR Stirling 4-2-2 and the LY&R Ramsbottom 2-4-0s.
