Aspen Miners
The Aspen Miners were a minor league baseball team based in Aspen, Colorado. Between 1889 and 1898, Aspen teams played as exclusively as members of the Colorado State League, playing in the 1889, 1895, 1896 and 1898 seasons and capturing the 1898 league championship. The 1889 team was known as the Aspen Silver Kings. Aspen teams hosted minor league home games at Athletic Park. History Minor league baseball began in Aspen, Colorado, when the 1889 Aspen Silver Kings became members of the Independent level Colorado State League. In 1889, Aspen began their first season of minor league play at a new ballfield built with a land donation from David Hyman, owner of the Durant Mine and Smuggler Mine. While in third place with a record of 25–30 under managers Ford and Jim Adams, the Aspen Silver Kings disbanded on July 29, 1889. Independent Baseball League
An independent baseball league is a professional baseball organization in the United States or Canada that is not overseen by Major League Baseball and is outside the Minor League Baseball clubs affiliated to it. The Northern League and Frontier League both started play in 1993, and the Northern League's success paved the way for other independent leagues like the Texas-Louisiana League and Northeast League. Ed Siever
Edward Tilden Siever (April 2, 1875 – February 4, 1920) was an American baseball pitcher. He played professional baseball for 12 seasons from 1899 to 1910, including seven years in Major League Baseball with the Detroit Tigers (1901–1902, 1906–1908) and St. Louis Browns (1903–1904). He led the American League with a 1.91 earned run average (ERA) in 1902. In seven major league seasons, Siever compiled an 83–82 Win–loss record with a 2.60 ERA and 470 strikeouts in 1,507 innings pitched. Early years Siever was born in Goddard, Kansas, in 1875. Frederick W. Osborne (May 1865 – August 31, 1907) nicknamed "Ossie", was a Major League Baseball pitcher and outfielder for the Pittsburgh Alleghenys. Osborne was born in what would later become the Northwest Territories, in an area that was then a little organized part of the British Empire. George Decker
George Henry Decker (February 16, 1902 – February 6, 1980) was a General (United States), general in the United States Army, who served as Chief of Staff of the United States Army from 1960 to 1962. Early life Decker was born in Catskill (town), New York, Catskill, New York, and attended Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, receiving an economics degree in 1924. William Jones "Boileryard" Clarke (October 18, 1868 – July 29, 1959), was an American Major League Baseball player from New York City who played catcher from 1893 to 1905.
