The Colima Democratic Association ( es, Asociación por la Democracia Colimense, Partido Político Estatal, ADC) is a political party from the State of Colima, Mexico. Carlos Vázquez Oldenbourg together with other politicians from Colima founded the ADC in 2002; the party was officially established in 2003 when it received its official registration as a political party from Colima. Colima (), officially the Free and Sovereign State of Colima ( es, Estado Libre y Soberano de Colima), is one of the 31 states that make up the Political divisions of Mexico, 32 Federal Entities of Mexico. 2003 Colima State Election
An election for governor was held in the Mexican state of Colima on 6 July 2003, simultaneously with federal congressional midterm elections. Gustavo Vázquez Montes of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) was initially declared the winner, with 83,995 votes; second place went to the National Action Party (PAN) with 69,180, with the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) in third place with 32,042. Following accusations of irregularities, the gubernatorial result was declared void by the state electoral authorities and an extraordinary election was held on December 7, 2003. The Congress of the State of Colima (aka Congress of Colima) is the legislative branch of the government of the State of Colima. The Congress of Colima is a unicameral legislature. The Congress consist of 25 local deputies (16 elected by the first-past-the-post system and 9 by proportional representation). Deputies are elected to serve for a three-year term. Since its installation the congress has been renewed 55 times, hence the current session of the Congress of Colima (whose term lasts from 2009 to 2012) is known as the LVI Legislature. The Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD, es, Partido de la Revolución Democrática, ) is a social democratic political party in Mexico. Gustavo Alberto Vázquez Montes (August 16, 1962 – February 24, 2005) was a Mexican politician. At the time of his death he was serving as the Governor of Colima, representing the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). Vázquez Montes was born in Tecomán, Colima, he was of Mestizo and Spanish ancestry. After graduating from teacher-training college and entering politics, he served as the mayor of his hometown and as a local deputy in the Congress of Colima.
