Johann Schönberg
Johann Nepomuk Schönberg (18442 December 1913) was an Austrian artist, war correspondent, war-artist, and illustrator who illustrated many of the wars and disasters of his time. Early life Both his father Adolf (1813–1868) an engraver and lithographer, and his grandfather Johan (178012 March 1863) an engraver, were well known artists. Schönberg attended the Imperial and Royal Unified Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna from 1858 to 1860, where his father had also studied. He travelled to Munich to work under Hermann Anschütz at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich. However, he had to abandon his studies to Vienna to assist his impoverished father. Fritz L'Allemand had seen some of his smaller war paintings and asked him to assist with completing his painting of "Banquet Table of the Maria Theresa Knights at Schönbrunn Castle". The Schönberg (earlier known as Schirnberg) is located on the southern outskirts of Freiburg im Breisgau and at 644.9 meters above sea level the Hausberg (a prominent mountain) of the municipality of Ebringen. Arnold Schoenberg
Arnold Schoenberg or Schönberg (, ; ; 13 September 187413 July 1951) was an Austrian-American composer, music theorist, teacher, writer, and painter. He is widely considered one of the most influential composers of the 20th century. He was associated with the expressionist movement in German poetry and art, and leader of the Second Viennese School. As a Jewish composer, Schoenberg was targeted by the Nazi Party, which labeled his works as degenerate music and forbade them from being published. He immigrated to the United States in 1933, becoming an American citizen in 1941. Schoenberg's approach, bοth in terms of harmony and development, has shaped much of 20th-century musical thought. Schönberg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
Schönberg () is a town in the Nordwestmecklenburg district, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It is situated 16 km east of Lübeck, and 7 km from the Dassower See. Schönberg is the city seat of the Schönberger Land, a recently enlarged subnational administrative unit of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Its population as of 2017 was 4,778. Schönberg is also close to the cities of Wismar and Schwerin and is part of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. History The first formal mention of the city of Schönberg came in the year 1219, and shortly after became the residence of the Bishopric of Ratzeburg. Nikolaus von Schönberg (11 August 1472 – 7 September 1537) was a German Catholic cardinal and Archbishop of Capua. Biography Born in Rothschönberg near Meissen to a noble family which already had several Bishops of Meissen, Nikolaus became Canon at the Cathedral of Naumburg (as would later his brothers Hans and Dietrich) and became a doctor of law (Dr. jur.) when studying in Italy. Impressed by the speeches held by Savonarola in Pisa in 1495, Schönberg became a priest in 1497 and a member of the Ordo Praedicatorum (Dominican Order) on 31 October 1498. In Florence he promoted to Dr. theol., but also studied mathematics, astronomy, medicine and geography. Speaking several languages, and serving his order, he travelled around Europe, to Jerusalem and the Ottoman Empire before settling in Rome in 1508 to serve Pope Julius II. Schönberg is a municipality in the district of Plön, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated on the Ostsee coast, approx. 17 km northeast of the state capital Kiel, and 26 km north of Plön.
