AsiaWorld–Expo Station
AsiaWorld–Expo is the western terminus of the of the Hong Kong MTR. It serves the AsiaWorld–Expo in the northeast corner of Chek Lap Kok, the island on which the Hong Kong International Airport is located. The AsiaWorld–Expo is an exhibition centre designed to host large scale events located adjacent to Hong Kong International Airport. The Airport Express was extended with a new station at AsiaWorld–Expo to accommodate visitors and organisers. History Tracks were already laid to the site of the AsiaWorld–Expo station when Airport Express inaugurated on 6th July, 1998, but they were originally used as a turn back siding before the station was built. AsiaWorld–Expo
The AsiaWorld–Expo is one of the two major convention and exhibition facilities in Hong Kong along with Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. It was opened on 21 December 2005 by Donald Tsang, the second Chief Executive of Hong Kong, and it is operated by AsiaWorld–Expo Management Limited. It is located on Chek Lap Kok island, next to the Hong Kong International Airport. The Mass Transit Railway (MTR) is a major public transport network serving :Hong Kong. Tung Chung Line
The Tung Chung line is one of the ten lines of the MTR system in Hong Kong, linking the town of Tung Chung with central Hong Kong. A part of the Tung Chung line was built along with the Kap Shui Mun Bridge and the Tsing Ma Bridge. The line currently travels through eight stations in 31 minutes along its route. Airport Station (MTR)
Airport is a rapid transit station on the of Hong Kong's MTR system. It serves the Hong Kong International Airport, and is integrated with the passenger terminal. It is also the westernmost railway station in Hong Kong. History The station was built at the same time as the new Hong Kong International Airport, constructed on a platform of reclaimed land in order to replace Kai Tak Airport in the urban core. In October 1993, the Airport Authority Hong Kong appointed Ove Arup and Partners to develop the concept design for the new airport's Ground Transportation Centre (GTC), which includes Airport station. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. Chek Lap Kok
Chek Lap Kok is an island in the western waters of Hong Kong's New Territories.
