Artistic Swimming At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Women's Duet
The women's duet event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, took place at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre from 2 to 4 August 2021. It was the 9th time the women's duet event was held at the Olympic Games. Russian synchronized swimmers won this event for the sixth time in a row, with Svetlana Romashina becoming a six-time Olympic champion. Competition format The preliminary phase consisted of a free routine, then a technical routine with required elements. The scores from the two routines were added together and the top twelve duets qualified for the final. The final repeated the same free routine and the score from the final free routine was added to the score from the preliminary technical routine to decide the overall winners. Both preliminary free and technical routines starting lists were decided by random draw. Tokyo Aquatics Centre
The is an indoor swimming pool in the Mori- Beach Park () in Tatsumi in the Kōtō ward in eastern Tokyo. Construction began in April 2017 and was completed in 2020. The total construction cost was 56.7 billion yen, ¥ (471 million Euro, €). The opening, scheduled for 22 March 2020, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and took place on 23 July 2020 without an audience. The swimming hall was built for the 2020 Summer Olympics and can accommodate up to 12,000 spectators. The arena will also be used for swimming competitions at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. The swimming arena has two swimming pools and a pool for water diving. The roof was built on the ground and raised step by step to a height of 37 metres. It is 160 metres long, 130 metres wide and 10 metres thick. The roof weighs 7,000 tonnes. Yukiko Inui
is a Japanese competitor in synchronised swimming. She won Japan's first gold medal in each the solo technical routine and the solo free routine at a FINA World Aquatics Championships at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in the duet event with Megumu Yoshida, and in the team event.
