Arthur Von Wartburg
Arthur von Wartburg (born 25 December 1952) is a Swiss international footballer who played most of his football for FC Basel as midfielder. Club career Von Wartburg played his youth football by Concordia Basel and advanced to their first team in 1972. Von Wartburg joined Basel for their 1973–74 season under first team manager Helmut Benthaus. After playing in two test games, he played his domestic league debut for his new club in the home game at St. Jakob Stadium on 20 April 1974 as Basel drew 1–1 against St. Gallen. He scored his first goal for his club on 7 August 1974 in the Swiss League Cup against Luzern as Basel won 5–2. It was the team's 5th goal of the match. In their 1974–75 season von Wartburg scored his first domestic league goal for his club on 31 August 1974 in the home game against Winterthur as Basel won by five goals to nil. Midfielder (football)
A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders. As central midfielders often go across boundaries, with mobility and passing ability, they are often referred to as deep-lying midfielders, play-makers, box-to-box midfielders, or holding midfielders. There are also attacking midfielders with limited defensive assignments. The size of midfield units on a team and their assigned roles depend on what formation is used; the unit of these players on the pitch is commonly referred to as the midfield. Walter Balmer (footballer)
Walter Balmer (28 March 1948 – 27 December 2010) was a Swiss international footballer. Club career Balmer started his youth football with his local team in Thun. He played as a right winger for FC Thun between 1964 and 1968. Between 1969 and 1976 he played for FC Basel in the Nationalliga A and won four league titles in the years 1969, 1970, 1972 and 1973. In the 1975 Swiss Cup Final Balmer scored the winning goal five minutes before the end of overtime. Balmer also won the first edition of the Swiss League Cup in 1972 with Basel. International career Between the years 1969 and 1973 Balmer played 20 games for the Swiss national team in which he scored two goals. In 1971, he scored during the 4–0 win against Turkey and in 1972 during the 1–1 draw with Denmark. Brian McGinlay (born 24 August 1945) is a retired football referee from Scotland, who officiated in 98 European club competition and international matches. Refereeing career At the domestic level McGinlay has refereed 21 Old Firm derbies, during which he never sent off a player, but he considers his most nerve-racking match to be the Rangers–Aberdeen title decider match at the climax of the 1990–91 season. In European club football he judged his most exciting match to be the Real Madrid– Borussia Mönchengladbach third-round second-leg UEFA Cup match. In international football he has taken charge of matches at the 1980 European Championships, the Home Championship and the 1984 Summer Olympics. Jörg Stohler
Jörg Stohler (born 27 August 1949) is a Swiss former international footballer who played as a defender during the 1970s and 1980s. He played over 300 League Championship matches and won the Swiss League Championship four times. He also won the Swiss Cup, the Swiss League Cup and Coppa delle Alpi once. Stohler played ten games for the Swiss national team. Football career Born in Pratteln, Stohler started his football in the youth system with local club Pratteln and as of 1967 played regularly for their first team. He moved to FC Basel in 1970. Bernhard "Bernd" Georg Josef Förster (born 3 May 1956) is a former German Association football, footballer who played as a Defender (association football), defender and midfielder. His younger brother, Karlheinz Förster, Karlheinz, was also a footballer, and a defender. Both played extensively at VfB Stuttgart, and were crowned UEFA European Football Championship, European champions in UEFA Euro 1980, 1980. Karlheinz Helmut Förster (born 25 July 1958) is a German former professional footballer who played as a central defender. The younger brother of another football defender, Bernd Förster, he was regarded as one of the world's top man-markers at his peak, and played most of his career at VfB Stuttgart with Bernd. Hans-Peter "Hansi" Müller (born 27 July 1957) is a German former footballer who played as a midfielder. Both his parents were of Danube Swabian descent (German: ''Donauschwaben)'' that were displaced from Yugoslavia after World War II. His father was born in Bačka Palanka and his mother in Inđija, both towns part of the province Vojvodina in Serbia. Club career Müller began his career playing for his hometown side VfB Stuttgart.
