Arthur Robinson (Australian Politician)
Sir Arthur Robinson KCMG (23 April 1872 – 17 May 1945) was an Australian politician, at different times a member of the upper and lower houses of the Victorian parliament and a federal MP. Early life Robinson was born at Carlton, Victoria, the son of journalist Anthony Bennett Robinson and Harriet, née Barton, the sister of Sir Edmund Barton. He attended Scotch College (where he was later Chairman of the School Council) before studying law at the University of Melbourne. He became a barrister and solicitor in 1896, partnering William Bruce in the firm that was to become Arthur Robinson & Co. (a forerunner of modern firm Allens). Robinson became known as a free trader and a conservative (in contrast to his uncle Edmund Barton), but he was also an ardent federalist. On 18 April 1899 he married Annie Summers Puckle at Malvern. ''55 Days at Peking'' is a 1963 American epic historical war film dramatizing the siege of the foreign legations' compounds in Peking (now known as Beijing) during the Boxer Rebellion, which took place in China from 1899 to 1901. It was produced by Samuel Bronston for Allied Artists, with a screenplay by Philip Yordan and Bernard Gordon with uncredited contributions from Robert Hamer, Julian Halevy, and Ben Barzman. Noel Gerson wrote a screenplay novelization, under the pseudonym Samuel Edwards, in 1963. The film was directed primarily by Nicholas Ray, although Guy Green and Andrew Marton took over in the latter stages of filming after Ray had fallen ill. Both men were uncredited. Arthur Brouhard Robinson (born March 24, 1942) is an American biochemist, conservative activist, and politician, serving as Oregon State Senator from the 2nd District since 2021. He was the five-time Republican nominee for the United States House of Representatives for Oregon's 4th congressional district. A former faculty member of the University of California, San Diego, Robinson now runs a privately funded laboratory known as the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine in Cave Junction, Oregon, a newsletter called ''Access to Energy'', and publishes the ''Robinson Self-Teaching Home School Curriculum''. Arthur Raymond Robinson (March 12, 1881March 17, 1961) was a United States senator from Indiana. Early life Born in Pickerington, Ohio, Robinson attended the common schools, graduated from the Ohio Northern University in 1901 ( B. Comm. Sci.), the Indiana Law School (now Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law) in Indianapolis in 1910 (LL.B.), and the University of Chicago in 1913 ( B.Ph.). He was admitted to the bar in 1910 and commenced practice in Indianapolis. Career Robinson was a member of the Indiana Senate from 1914 to 1918, and was the Republican floor leader during the entire period. Sir William Arthur Robinson, GCB, GBE (9 September 1874 – 23 April 1950) was a British civil servant. Educated at The Queen's College, Oxford, he entered in the Civil Service in 1897, initially working in the Colonial Office and from 1912 at the Office of Works. From 1918 to 1920, he was the Permanent Secretary of the new Air Ministry. He was then Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health from 1920 to 1935, during which time he oversaw the implementation of major housing, pensions, planning and local government reforms. Robinson was born at Rathmines in April 1899, and was educated at Clongowes Wood College in County Kildare.
