Arthur Johnson (footballer, Born 1933)
Arthur Johnson (23 January 1933 – 20 June 2011) was an English footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Playing career Johnson represented Southport and District Schoolboys as a youngster and went on to join Blackburn Rovers as an apprentice in 1949 before turning professional a year later. After one appearance in the Football League over the next five years, Johnson moved to Halifax Town and enjoyed regular football before moving to Wrexham in 1960. He spent three years with the North Wales club, although the early stages of 1962–63 were spent on loan at local rivals Chester. Non-League Football
Non-League football describes football leagues played outside the top leagues of a country. Usually, it describes leagues which are not fully professional. The term is primarily used for football in England, where it is specifically used to describe all football played at levels below those of the Premier League (20 clubs) and the three divisions of the English Football League (EFL; 72 clubs). Currently, a non-League team would be any club playing in the National League or below that level. Typically, non-League clubs are either semi-professional or amateur in status, although the majority of clubs in the National League are fully professional, some of which are former EFL clubs who have suffered relegation. The Football League
The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world. It was the top-level football league in England from its foundation until 1992, when the top 22 clubs split from it to form the Premier League. The EFL is divided into the Championship, League One and League Two, with 24 clubs in each division, 72 in total, with promotion and relegation between them; the top Championship clubs change places with the lowest-placed clubs in the Premier League, and the bottom clubs of League Two with the top clubs of the National League.
