Arthur Reynolds Griffin (26 September 1883 – 16 July 1967) was a New Zealand architect based in Nelson, New Zealand, Nelson during the first half of the 20th century. His notable works include the Hokitika Museum, Hokitika Carnegie Library, the Christ Church Cathedral, Nelson, church steps in Nelson (also known as the Cawthron steps) (1913), and the Ritz Louis Kerr building (1930) in Nelson. Biography Griffin was born in Nelson on 26 September 1883, the son of John Hollis Griffin and Martha Louisa Griffin (née Biss). His grandfather, John Griffin, was the founder of biscuit manufacturer Griffin's Foods, Griffin and Sons Limited. He was educated at Nelson College for one year, in 1898, winning the fourth-form drawing prize. Arthur Griffin (September 12, 1903 — 2001) was an American photographer. Biography In the 1920s, he trained as an illustrator. In 1929, he became interested in photography, from the mid-1930s he became a staff photographer for '' The Boston Globe'' newspaper, then for ''Life'' and ''Time'' magazines. He became one of the first photographers in New England to take color photographs - in the 1930s, a color landscape photograph of Griffin was the first to be published in a separate tab for ''The Saturday Evening Post''. At the same time, the first color photo portrait of the then extremely popular baseball player Ted Williams from the Boston Red Sox club appeared in ''Life''. In 1962, Griffin's first color photo album of New England landscapes was released. Arthur Griffin Claypole (1882–1929) FRCO LTCL was a cathedral organist, who served in Derby Cathedral. Background Arthur Claypole was born in 1882 in Peterborough. He graduated from Durham University as Bachelor of Music in 1902. He studied organ under Haydn Keeton at Peterborough Cathedral and at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig. He was awarded his Fellowship of the Royal College of Organists in 1903. He was Music Master at Kent College in Canterbury from 1904 to 1911. He then took the post of head teacher at Derby School of Music from 1921-1929. He was on holiday in Leipzig in 1914 when the First World War broke out, and he was detained until after the Armistice. James Arthur Griffin (August 10, 1943 – January 11, 2005) was an American singer, guitarist and songwriter, best known for his work with the 1970s soft rock band Bread. He won an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1970 as co-writer of " For All We Know". Early life Griffin was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. His musical training began when his parents signed him up for accordion lessons. He attended Kingsbury High School in Memphis and Dorsey and Johnny Burnette were his neighbors and role models. Archie Mason Griffin (born August 21, 1954) is a former American football running back. He played seven seasons in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals. As college football's only two-time Heisman Trophy winner, he is considered one of the greatest college football players of all time. Griffin won four Big Ten Conference titles with the Ohio State Buckeyes and was the first player ever to start in four Rose Bowls. High school career Griffin rushed for 1,787 yards and scored over 170 points in 11 games, including 29 touchdowns, as a senior fullback at Eastmoor High School (now Eastmoor Academy) in Columbus, Ohio.
