Arseni Markov
Arseni Markov (born 12 November 1981) is a former competitive Ice dancing, ice dancer who competed internationally for Canada and Russia. With Chantal Lefebvre, he is the 2004 and 2005 Canadian national bronze medalist. With earlier partner Svetlana Kulikova, he is the 2001 Figure skating at the Winter Universiade, Winter Universiade bronze medalist and 2002 Skate Canada International bronze medalist. Career Markov competed as a singles skater for Russia until he was 13 years old. He teamed up with Svetlana Kulikova in 1996. They placed 6th at the 2000 World Junior Figure Skating Championships, 2000 World Junior Championships. Following the 2000–2001 season, Kulikova and Markov moved to Newington, Connecticut, to train full-time with Tatiana Tarasova and Nikolai Morozov (figure skater), Nikolai Morozov. The free dance (FD) is a segment of an ice dance competition, the second contested. It follows the rhythm dance (RD). Original Dance
The original dance (OD) was one of the programs performed by figure skaters in ice dance competitions, in which the ice dancers skated "a dance of their own creation to dance music they have selected for the designated rhythm(s)".Rulebook, p. 90 It was normally the second of three programs in the competition, sandwiched between the compulsory dance (CD) and the free dance (FD). The rhythm(s) and type of music required for the OD changed every season, and were selected by the International Skating Union (ISU) before the start of the season. The ice dancers were free to choose their own music and choreography (within the specified constraints) and to create their own routines.
